Target Day at Edgemont
Fifty students received $100 each to spend on a “shopping spree” to make sure they had a good start to the school year.
The Target store on Day Street was filled with Edgemont families buying school supplies and back-to-school clothing,
all thanks to a generous donation from the store.

We gained almost 100 new page likes and surpassed 3,000 total that are now following the MVUSD page
Our posts reached 54,964 people during the first week of school
5,005 people engaged with our page in some way (like a post, click a link, shared a post, etc.)

New 4th Year Math CourseMathematics Reasoning with Connections (MRWC)
To be Implemented at CSHS, MVHS, VVHS, VDLHS
• Course designed to address the need for stronger preparation for transitioning from high school to college and career pathways
• Curriculum has been developed by a consortium of mathematics professors and math educators from CSU, UC, and CCC higher education systems, together with mathematics specialists from County Offices of Education and local school districts
• MRWC is being funded by an i3 grant received by Riverside County Office of Education

Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE)Grant Award: $6,000 July 2017 – June 2020
The TUPE grant helps to ensure District tobacco-use policies are current and provides proper signs on all school buildings in order to maintain District compliance with CDE.
TUPE compliance also includes written notifications and training for ALL new and current employees; Parent/Student Handbook definitions for tobacco-free campuses and published guidelines for community stakeholders who request to use District facilities.
Education for Homeless Children and Youth Program
Grant Award: $ 175,955 July 2017 – June 2018
Third and final year of the Education Without Barriers Grant.
Funding provides in school and after school programs, staff training,
outreach, support and services for identified homeless youth.
School supplies, transportation assistance and case management will be provided to help keep students in
school while their living conditions become unstable.

Congratulations to Dr. Vicki Dudek, Principal at Sunnymeadows Elementary for her participation in the AVON 39 Walk to End Breast Cancer.
She helped raise 4.1 million dollars for breast cancer research and health care

Mountain View Middle School and Canyon Springs High School:
Proposition 39: State Funded Energy Usage Reduction Projects• Installation of new energy efficient LED exterior lighting is complete
• Testing and balancing of air flow is in progress.
• New boiler installation in building B is in progress.
• Seismic anchor installation is in progress.
• Additional occupancy sensors are scheduled to be installed by October 2017
• Commissioning is scheduled to begin in October
• New electrical disconnect switch has been installed for the HVAC units
