    Charlie Birdsong

We were fortunate to have noted bromeliad authority,

Charlie Birdsong from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, attend

and participate in our Cryptanthus Show. Charlie was

in Queensland visiting family and friends before attend-

ing Bromsmatta in Sydney. In addition to being a

popular speaker at many bromeliad society meetings in

the United States and writing numerous articles for

various publications, he is a respected judge, receiving his international Mas-

ter Judge accreditation in 1996. He has been very supportive of the recent

    accreditation programme for Australian judges.

Charlie has been collecting bromeliads since the 1960s, and now has a collec-

tion of over 1400 species and cultivars. We hope that the next time Charlie

visits Queensland he will be able to attend another meeting.

    SUNNYBROMS 2017

We are well on the way with organising the Sunnybroms Conference in 2017.

A rolling display by way of a computer monitor was featured throughout the

Bromsmatta conference and in doing so we received a number of expressions

of interest. Our display also featured two standing promotional banners .

Peter Cook our Web Master has been exceptionally busy with both our web site

and in addition has also produced the Sunnybroms Web Site which can be viewed

    at [email protected]

Peter is interested in receiving any garden photos from club members which they

consider worthy of inclusion onto the website for publication.

    Time for some Humour

Why are bachelors like used cars. They’re

easy to find, cheap and unreliable.

She was looking for a husband so she put an ad in the Lonely Hearts column.

She got fifty replies, all saying “You can

    have mine.”

Women can take a joke - they get married

    to prove it!

    10

Humour continued A man was dining alone in a fancy res-

taurant and there was a gorgeous redhead

sitting at the next table. He had been

checking her out since he sat down, but

lacked the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezed, and her glass eye

came flying out of its socket towards the

man. He reflexively reached out, grabbed

it out of the air, and handed it back.

'Oh my, I am so sorry,' the woman said,

as she popped her eye back in place. 'Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you.'

They enjoyed a wonderful dinner to-

gether, and afterwards they went to the

theater followed by drinks. They talked,

they laughed, she shared her deepest

dreams and he shared his. She listened to

him with interest. After paying for every-

thing, she asked him if he would like to

come to her place for a nightcap and stay

for breakfast. They had a wonderful,

wonderful time. The next morning, she cooked a gourmet

meal with all the trimmings. The guy

was amazed. Everything had been so

    incredible!

'You know, 'he said, 'you are the perfect

woman. Are you this nice to every guy

    you meet?'

    'No,' she replies.

    Wait for it…

    It's coming…

The suspense is killing you, isn't it?

She said… 'You're just the first man who happened

    to catch my eye.'

    ***********

Three old guys are out walking. First one

says, 'Windy, isn't it?' Second one says,

'No, it's Thursday!' Third one says, 'So

    am I. Let's go get a beer..'

  • Bunnings Maroochydore Sausage Sizzle Sunday 3rd May 2015

Three cars lined up next to

    Bunnings BBQ canopy .

Supplies of cold soft drinks stored

in eskies and foam box containers

make up the bulk of supplies. In addition pre-packed sausages and

    pre-cooked onions are separately

    stored and kept cold.

Loaves of bread are neatly tucked

up out of the way on top of the fold-

up roof of the BBQ structure.

    Another box with assorted sauces

    makes up the supplies required.

    Una Fallon and Carol Stewart

    together smiling and no wonder.

Una has just sold out of all her pre-

    bottled relishes with a staggering

total sale of $ 239.80 Una had a stall set up at the other

side of the front entrance and wasted

no time selling her relishes .

Already there are requests for her

    Cumquat Jam.

    Michael Richards standing with

    Peter Cook.

Michael came to lend a hand after

reading the email sent regarding the

BBQ but not knowing what was in-volved.

A surprise to all of us Cheryl, Gaye,

Carol, Peter, Ralf and Michael who

stationed the BBQ stand it was seri-

ously hectic. Our total sales were

$2345.35. That amounts to a lot of

    sausages, bead, onions and sauces!
