What is art & soul? Pablo Picasso once said,

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Art & Soul at Middle Church is —

A cool drink of art for your soul, and a chance to bathe in Love. Worship at night, outside and in between the lines. Fantastic music that makes you get off your feet or weep. Sermons that are bold, meaningful, and make you think. A safe space to be unsure of Spirit, but to lean into it anyway. A powerful pause from the busy, and a way to jumpstart your heart.

Art & Soul is The Word Made Art. Come again next week, and bring a friend.

THIS WEEK: I DON’T WANNA GROW UP These are a few of the grown up questions Jesus posed. Which will guide your 2016? • Who do you say I am? • What do you think? • Who is it you are looking for? • Which one was a neighbor to that man? • You of little faith, why are you afraid? • Does this offend you? • Do you want to be made well? • Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right? • Who is greater, the one at the table or the one who serves? • What can a man give in exchange for his soul? • Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? • Why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? • Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye and ignore the plank in your own?

LAST WEEK: THIS WEEK: THIS ONE CHILD • Who is the ALL in “all flesh will see the salvation of God?” • Has news of a birth caused you to leap for joy? • In these times, why does the multicultural nature of Jesus matter?

MIDDLE LITERARY MAGAZINE NEEDS YOU! Submit your writing and/or art to our 5th annual Literary Magazine! The theme will be “Revolutionary Love.” Poetry, fiction, essay, art, photos, children’s work—even a video clip—are all welcome! MI DDLE C OLLEGIAT E CHURCH VISIO N STAT EMENT Middle Collegiate Church is a celebrating, culturally diverse, inclusive and growing community of faith where all persons are welcomed just as they are as they come through the door. Rooted in Christian tradition as the oldest continuous Protestant Church in North America, Middle Church is called by God to boldly do a new thing on the earth.

As a teaching congregation that celebrates the arts, our ministries include rich and meaningful worship, care, and education that nurture the mind, body, and spirit, social action which embraces the global community, and participation in interfaith dialogue for the purpose of justice and reconciliation. :: middlechurch.org

“Total Praise” (Richard Smallwood)

“Let There Be Peace on Earth” (Jill Jackson Miller and Sy Miller)

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me; Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.

With God our Creator Family all are we, Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now. With ev’ry step I take, let this be my solemn vow;

To take each moment, and live each moment in peace eternally!

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
