I think that the concept of designating a day/month for this spe- cific purpose is a great reminder for us to show some thankful recognition to our pastors, but better still is the con- cept of showing that thankful recogni- tion all year round. Let's equate this concept to say .... Mother's Day. Don't we all need to ap- preciate our moms all year long? Go ahead, think of any other 'honoring' day, and the underlying premise would be that while a special day may be desig- nated, the insinuation is that the day is a reminder that the 'honoree' is worthy of recognition on a regular basis. In addition to appreciation, we need to remember to bathe our pastors (and each other) in prayer, and not just for a day or a month, but continually. We have all had times of serious spiritual battles going on related to life issues, and faithful prayers of others on our behalf are especially important during those times. Our pastors need our prayers, as they not only have their own life issues, but also share the burdens of so many folks that come to them for help and guidance. Along with prayer, the occasional 'atta-boy/atta-girl' is beneficial. (Don't we all benefit from en- couragement?) Treasurer’s ReportSeptember 2012

Date ........................................... Income........................................9/03 $4,921.00........................................9/10 $5,071.00........................................9/17 $4,606.10........................................9/24 $3,951.45

.........................Total Income $18,549.55...................Total Expenses $22,319.86

.......................For the month -$3,770.31Our budget this year is $360,000,

calling for an average contribution of $30,000 per month.

Thirteen people traveled from TSCC to Orlando to attend the Regional As-sembly. For many of us this was our first Florida Regional Assembly. The Florida Region has suffered severely in the past few years and our expectations were not very high. Fortunately those expectations were exceeded. We heard from several speakers and had good music. Pastor Joel was recruited at the last minute to help with the worship mu-sic for the Assembly.

The speakers had a message of re-newal. The enthusiasm was shared and directed by our new Regional Minister (Dr. Juan Rodriguez). Pastor Rodriguez has been on staff for several months and has discovered the strength and weak-ness of the Region. He has great plans for us, but it will require that our coopera-tion be strong and active. Those in at-tendance responded to his request for action.

We are the Church and the Region is our connection between the congre-gations of Florida. It is not about the Ministers or the Region but about the Church. We had excellent speakers that expressed the excitement of a new Mis-sion. That Mission is to find new ways to be Church and to communicate. Communication is essential and as we are faced with the changes we will re-view new ways to establish links be-tween the Region, the Congregations and the Pastors.

We broke up into groups on Satur-day for serious discussion on what we as Congregations and Members want from the Region. In the past the Region has been very heavy with committees and groups that were not effective and

took extensive energy from those who served. A Virtual Office was discussed and in today’s technology is very prob-able and will allow the districts to have much greater access to the activities of the Region.

Our history as Disciples of Christ was often referred to as being the his-tory that is part of the future. We as Disciples are uniquely situated to serve the needs of this modern generation. The inspiration of our historic leaders was never more true that in today’s Church.

To summarize, we came away reju-venated and feeling that as members of TSCC we can find value and success by being an active part of the NEW Re-gion of Florida. As this unfolds we hope you as members will understand and support our involvement with the Re-gion as these changes come to pass.

Emergency Contact InfoOur church is beginning an Emergency

Contact database. Please provide the church office with a contact name and number (or email) for personal emergen-cies. This would be particularly helpful for single individuals of any age who are in South Florida without family or friends. You will find a form on the table in the fellowship hall for this information.

Thank you to Pastor Joel and all of you who prayed for me during my illness. I am Phil Aaron, son of Sue Aaron. I became a member of TSCC when I was 12 years old. I know some of the older members, they remember me as a noisy kid who wanted to surf all the time. I don’t know the new mem-bers since Pastor Joel came, but your prayers have meant so much to me and my family.

God bless you all. I’m in therapy and doing well.

Phil Aaron

Dear TSCC family, Thank you for all your prayers, cards

and telephone calls during the time I was hospitalized and undergoing the procedure to receive a pacemaker. I don't know what I would do without my family and church fam-ily.

Our mission as Disciples of Christ is to profess faith, proclaim hope and practice love.

A Senior Moment : )Tropical Sands is on the verge of

Revival, a Great Awakening of our po-tential to win souls for the kingdom of God by the power of Jesus Christ.

God has put in place the pastors, musicians, artists, business profession-als and hospitality staff to make this Revival happen. And like Barton Stone calling for a Sacramental Communion at Cane Ridge in 1801, I am calling on everyone connected with this church to pray, plan and get ready for a miracle!

I think we’ve all been shaken from our comfortable positions in the church. God isn’t giving anyone the luxury of standing still. People are hungry for the Gospel, and they’re coming to Tropical Sands because they know that we will bring it down to where they live and teach them to apply it to the real world.

Hyperbole? No, I’m serious! The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is all about sharing the essential Lordship of Christ and holding loosely to tradi-tions that separate us from each other. Or, as our founders were fond of say-ing, “In essentials, unity; in nonessen-tials, liberty; in all things, charity.”

To meet the challenge and potential of the coming year, we need to bring our Associate Pastors on as full time employees. Please consider an in-creased level of giving next year, and let us know with a note on an index card in the collection box, offering plate or mail. Your faithful giving will make it possible to fully engage these pastors.

To put it bluntly, I’m asking you to sponsor them so we can commit ALL of our work hours to the plans God has for this church. It’s a great ministry!
