CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS  Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, the creator of wind and rain, field and ocean, the bread of life coming down from above, the power at work within us and this world. Amen.

It is good to remember that we are not a force unto ourselves. Let us confess our sins before God and one another.Mighty One,

C: We sometimes believe we succeed or fail based on our own efforts, as if we were the ruler of our lives. We boast of the good we achieve and claim that you are on our side. Forgive us our presumption. Help us to remember that we are the hands and feet, and you are the driving force of our lives. Amen.

God sees you as you have been, and as you might be: face shining, radiating joy. Child of God, receive forgiveness in the name of Christ, and live into God’s dream for you.Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY 

Let us pray. God of angel armies and of little lambs, C: Help us to remember that both strong and weak have a place in your kingdom, and that you are with us in high and low places. Pour out your Holy Spirit on your faithful people. Keep us steadfast in your word, protect and comfort us in times of trial, defend us against all enemies, and bestow on the church your saving peace and boundless joy. Amen.

NARRATIVE READING: 2 Samuel 5:1-5; 6:1-5A reading from 2 Samuel.

Chapter 51Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron, and said, "Look, we are your bone and flesh. 2For some time, while Saul was king over us, it was you who led out Israel and brought it in. The LORD said to you: It is you who shall be shepherd of my people Israel, you who shall be ruler over Israel.“

3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel. 4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5At Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.

Chapter 61David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2David and all the people with him set out and went from Baale- judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts who is enthroned on the cherubim. 3They carried the ark of God on a new cart,

and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart 4with the ark of God; and Ahio went in front of the ark. 5David and all the house of Israel were dancing before the LORD with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.

THANKSGIVING AT THE TABLE
