Old Testament: Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
\He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me
beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for
thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou
preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou
anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell
in the house of the Lord for ever.

Hymn A Mighty Fortress is Our God
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For
still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe; his craft and power are great, and
armed with cruel hate, on earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be
losing,
were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God's own
choosing.
You ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same; and he must win
the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to
undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed his truth to triumph
through us.
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him; his rage we
can endure, for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.
That Word above all earthly powers no thanks to them
abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us
sideth.
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
the body they may kill: God's truth abideth still; his kingdom
is forever!

Meditative Thought
The Lord will restore us fully! Our work of restoration has
begun in Christ.
2 Corinthians 13:11
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full
restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in
peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as
in fact you are doing.
Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is
called, “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s
deceitfulness.
Prayer Concerns & PraisesTake a moment to consider your own
joys and concerns,
those of your loved ones, those of our church and community…As
for those who have been baptized, we are given the knowledge that
“the earth is the Lord’s.” All who are within this world are God’s
beloved creation. Let us remember our baptism and be thankful. Let
us walk as children of light for Your glory and Your honor.

relationships?
3. Which “work” is harder to do in our
relationships—encouraging, being of

4. What is a relationship currently where you are being
encouraged and “built
up”? What in particular is giving you strength, courage and
fortification
from that relationship?
5. Considering the 4 hindrances mentioned in the today’s sermon,
which one
is most likely to impact your relationships? Explain.

do this important work of relationship restoration today?

faith—even
when they are within our own families—are our mission field.
