FROM THE PASTOR

Let us return to the Eucharist with joy!

Excerpts from the

“Letter on the celebration of the Liturgy during and after the COVID

19 pandemic to the Presidents of the Episcopal Conferences of the

Catholic Church”,

by Robert Card. Sarah, Prefect

As soon as circumstances permit, however, it is necessary and urgent to

return to the normality of Christian life, which has the church building as

its home and the celebration of the liturgy, especially the Eucharist, as "the

summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same

time it is the font from which all her power flows" (Sacrosanctum

Concilium, 10).

Aware that God never abandons the humanity He has created, and that

even the hardest trials can bear fruits of grace, we have accepted our

distance from the Lord's altar as a time of Eucharistic fasting, useful for us

to rediscover its vital importance, beauty and immeasurable preciousness.

As soon as is possible, however, we must return to the Eucharist with a

purified heart, with a renewed amazement, with an increased desire to meet

the Lord, to be with him, to receive him and to bring him to our brothers

and sisters with the witness of a life full of faith, love and hope.

We cannot live, be Christians, fully realizing our humanity and the desires

for good and happiness that dwell in our hearts without the Word of the

Lord, which in the celebration of the liturgy takes shape and becomes a

living word, spoken by God for those who today open their hearts to listen;

We cannot live as Christians without participating in the Sacrifice of the

Cross in which the Lord Jesus gives himself unreservedly to save, by his

death, humanity which had died because of sin; the Redeemer associates

humanity with himself and leads it back to the Father; in the embrace of

the Crucified One all human suffering finds light and comfort;

We cannot be without the banquet of the Eucharist, the table of the Lord to

which we are invited as sons and daughters, brothers and sisters to receive

the Risen Christ himself, present in body, blood, soul and divinity in that

Bread of heaven which sustains us in the joys and labours of this earthly

pilgrimage;

October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss

Awareness Month

For parents in need of life affirming resources following a

prenatal diagnosis, visit benotafraid.net.

Be Not Afraid (BNA) is a private non-profit organization

which provides comprehensive case management to

parents carrying to term following a prenatal

diagnosis. Our staff and peers strive to develop a

relationship of trust while providing for the emotional and

tangible needs of parents at diagnosis, during pregnancy,

at birth and during the post postpartum period for up to

one year. We believe that every baby is a gift, and we

support parents not only in advocating for basic care, but

also in obtaining the treatment they deem appropriate for

their child after birth no matter the diagnosis. We follow

the ethical teaching of the Catholic Church, but serve

parents of all denominations.

REGULARLY SCHEDULED ADORERS NEEDED

Weekly Adoration (Thursday 9am - Friday 8am)

We are in need of weekly commitments for the following

hours:

Thursdays: 11 am, 3 pm, & 10 pm

Fridays: 1am & 2am

Contact Tricia Sanborn at the office to sign up

With the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi upon us, we mark

the 5-year anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for the

Care of Creation in the Catholic Church. Pope Francis has

encouraged the faithful to observe the Season of Creation

with increased prayer and a simpler lifestyle. He calls for

the Church and the world to acknowledge the urgency of

our environmental challenges. The USCCCB (US

Conference of Catholic Bishops) made the following

statement. “The Holy Father has reminded us that every

member of the human family can act as a thin yet unique

and indispensable thread in weaving a network of life that

embraces everyone. To weave the network of life, we set

our sights on the “Author of Life’ (Acts 3:15) and pray for

help to heal our ailing planet. We invite every Catholic

and all people of good will who care for our common

home to increase efforts towards ecological conversion.

May our witness reflect the words and deeds of Jesus, who

‘went about doing good and healing’ (Acts 10:38).” Let us

all try to live the adage “What Would Jesus Do” as we go

about our lives in these fast changing and somewhat

perilous times.

VIDEO TEAM HELP NEEDED

We are looking to put together a video team of 4-6 people

to help run the video equipment at our Masses and other

Parish events. We have someone that is willing to train

people. If you’re interested in being part of this team or in

getting more information please email Pat at

[email protected] Thank you!

“I Am the Vine and You the

Branches”

Our Offertory hymn this week,

“Vine and Branches” is a

beautiful song based on John

15:5. Each verse of this song

reflects an inspiring and

important message from this

chapter. Verse one: “A new

commandment I give you, even

as I love you, now love one

another.” Verse two: “No greater love is there than this, to

lay down your life for your friend’s.” Verse three: “I am

the living bread from heaven, if you eat this bread you will

live forever.” Verse four: “All those who eat my flesh and

drink my blood remain in me and I in them.” Verse five:

“The words that I have spoken are spirit and life.” and

Verse six: “And now I have washed your feet so you must

do as I have done.” It inspires us to go forth and do as the

refrain says, “You will bear great fruit in me.”
