Welcome to #TeamJeremiah!
Thank you for choosing to participate in the ABB Barbican Raft Race and for helping to make a difference in the
lives of grieving children! Jeremiah’s Journey are delighted to be the chosen charity for this year’s Barbican Raft
Race.
Jeremiah’s Journey is a local self-funded charity that offers support and information
to children and their families who have experienced or are anticipating the death of
someone special. We provide our service for children, young people and their
families living in Plymouth and the immediate surrounding area.
We see many families each year and always aim to support children through their
grief in a way that is most appropriate to each individual family. Many of the
children that we meet are facing the death of one of their parents. We also meet with
children who have been bereaved of a sibling, grandparent or someone else who has
been very special to them. We start out by meeting the family and hearing their story.
We then offer help through providing:
Reassurance and guidance for parents/carers
Tailored individual sessions for children and young people
Sessions for the family
to talk together
Extra support for those
parents/carers who
need it
An open group programme for children who have a parent with a terminal illness
A short term therapeutic group programme for bereaved children and their parents/carers
Follow up sessions
Events and activities for our families
Study days where we share skills and best practice with other professionals
Sadly our service is one that will always be needed. We need your support to make sure we can be there for
every child and their family who needs us not just for now but for the future.
“I love coming… it’s a place where you can feel safe amongst people who understand you. Noone forces
you to talk if you don’t want to and no one will judge you. We all come from different backgrounds, but
we have one thing in common that brings us together… We are a family and I love my family”
