    PRESIDENTS REPORT

My name is Mark Doherty and I have been the President of Sunbury Little Athletics Centre for the2013/14 season. I have now been with the club for 11 years and my 2 children have loved their experience with Sunbury little athletics and they have made many friends over the years and loved the experience.

Firstly I would like to thank our dedicated committee and volunteers who work so hard each week to ensure we are able to put a program on for all of our members to enjoy. Sometimes things may look very easy but a lot of time and dedication has been put in behind the scenes so that this seamless appearance is possible.

I would also like to thank our sponsors Snap Fitness – Sunbury, Rams Western Region, Flag of India –Sunbury and Melbourne Properties Online, Sportsco, Sunbury Cycles, O’Shannessy Meats, Bakers Delight, McDonalds, Sunbury Bowling club, Taco Bills, Subway, Sapore pasta and pizza, Blockbuster , and the other Sunbury businesses that have donated for our raffles. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Lou for helping to secure these sponsors as well.

I have really enjoyed my time as President this year and have loved working with the children through coaching on a Wednesday night and also through the announcing each week where I have been able to get know your children much better and enjoyed their humor throughout the season.

I do believe this season has been a success with new initiatives from the club such as introducing PB’s and providing a certificate or a reward of encouragement, we have also added the newsletter which provide all families with an update to what has been completed and what the club has coming up which has been e reliable sheet of information for all to see. We have also have raised money this season for the Royal Childrens Hospital Appeal through running a crazy hair day, McDonalds night and also having the money tin out each week and we are pleased to announce that we have raised over $600 that has now been sent off to Little Athletics Victoria to add to their donation to a worthy cause.

This season we hosted Coburg for our annual challenge and it was pleasing to see all the children participating and doing their best to bring the trophy back to Sunbury with a fantastic achievement for the club.

We also had great success with our relay teams with over 20 teams competing in region relays and at least 10 progressing on to state where we now have state champions with the Under 13 boys.

This season has seen many children progress with their times in running as well as their throwing and jumping and this has gone on to Region and State events and provided Sunbury with many good results and the children achieving their personal best.

Our annual dinner dance was held at the Sunbury Bowling Club where the parents were entertained and enjoyed a good night out and funds were raised for the club and this will contribute to further resources that will benefit the club in moving forward and progressing.

The season will continue as we now move into cross country and updates will be sent out to all registered members who are all eligible to participate. If you are keen to know more about the cross country please contact David Theis and contact details can be found on our website.

I would like to take this final opportunity to thank the committee but in particular David Theis for all his efforts with the time keeping, website entry, results and assisting with training when he could. I would also like to thank Emma Lynch for all her support with being the Secretary but also helping with Team Manager Duties for region and state events and her efforts with helping out on Wednesday nights with coaching.

As the 2013/14 season comes to a close I encourage all members to become actively involved in the club and help to secure its future success. We have a great bunch of children who are trying their best at each event each week and we need enthusiastic parents to get involved to become a volunteer or join the committee to help with the club in going forward and achieving great results.

Thank you all for the season!!

    Mark Doherty

    President

    SECRETARYS REPORT

My name is Emma Lynch and I have been the Sunbury Little Athletics Secretary for the season 2013/2014.

Firstly I would like to thank the members of the current committee this season, your passion and dedication has made it a great year and your support has been invaluable.

We have made some great inclusions this season, with the introduction of the weekly PB awards, training on the Wednesday night, Age group photos, and crazy hair day to raise funds for Little Athletics Victoria’s charity of choice the RCH Good Friday appeal.

It has been great to see some long standing centre records be broken this season and of course all the PB’s by the athletes on a weekly basis.

Congratulations to those athletes who have competed in the State multi event, Region relays and the Northern metro region track and field. To those who have qualified through to State Track and Field Championships congratulations and we wish you every success.

I would like to thank all our sponsors this year Snap Fitness, Rams, Flag of India, Sunbury Bowling Club, Melbourne Properties online, Sunbury Mc Donalds, Sportsco, Sunbury Cycles, O’Shannessy Meats, Bakers Delight, Taco Bill, and Subway. It is through our sponsors support that we are able to renew and upgrade our equipment and club facilities. To all the other Sunbury businesses that donated goods for our raffle prizes for the Dinner Dance, we thank you for your contribution.

Finally thank you to the children, we have a great bunch of kids at SLAC and you make it a pleasure to volunteer. It is a rewarding experience to see you all achieve your best each week. I would encourage members to consider joining the committee or putting their hand up to help around the club, it really is a rewarding experience, and the smile on the kids’ faces makes it all worthwhile.

I will be standing for the role of Secretary again, and I look forward to seeing you all again next season.

    Regards

    Emma Lynch

    REGISTRARS REPORT

This year we had 159 financial members at Sunbury Little Athletics, which was considerably lower than the last couple of years of 188 & 192.

Most members are now using the registrations online - which is a quicker and easier way to register or renew a membership, it also saves you having to fill in paperwork.

The main issue for all of our children is the vinyl name patches, please be aware that these must be worn every week, to enable Dave & Robyn to record your results quickly and if need be tell you if you have PB.

Next season we will not be as lenient as what we have been, this is the second year of having barcodes on the name patches and due to minimal supplies from LAV we are unable to keep re-writing and replacing name patches so please LOOK AFTER THEM.

Along with the registrations I have spent most of the season on the oval taking photos of all the children competing in various events, they are displayed here behind me, on Facebook & the webpage. I also created a small movie which was used at the Dinner Dance.

Thank you to all who have continually assisted me throughout the year, I will be standing again for the Registrar’s role and look forward to another fun filled year.

    TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 2013/2014

The role of the team manager is to promote athlete participation in regional and state events. To act as the main contact with Northern Metro Region / Little Athletics Victoria Officials with team entries and to represent Sunbury by organising the athletes at these events.

The position has become easier than past years with the introduction of on-line registrations and LAV also helping with reducing the workload prior to these events. That being said it can still be a difficult task, being required to be at these events from 7.30am to 6pm all weekend, when sometimes your child is not competing.

This year we have had a number of people from the committee taking on the team manager role. Knowing our Sunbury athletes I am sure they would all like to thank the following people. Mark Doherty, Emma Lynch, Carolyn Evans, David Thies, Jeanetta and Steve Rodwell.

This season our Sunbury team has competed in the following events :

    1. Northern Metro Multi Championships.

Held at Hume Athletics track in Broadmeadows. 21 Athletes competed.

    2. Victorian State Multi Championships.

Held at Bendigo Athletics track.14 Athletes competed.

    3. Northern Metro Region Relay Championships.

Held at Diamond Valley Athletics track in Greensborough with 17 teams entering.

    4. Victorian State Relay Championships.

Held at Lakeside Athletics Centre Melbourne with 5 teams qualifying.

    5. Northern Metro Region Track and Field Championships.

Held at Meadow Glen Athletics track in Epping with 28 athletes competing.

    6. Victorian State Track and Field Championships .

Held at Lakeside Athletics Centre Melbourne with 17 athletes qualifying.

  • Sunbury Little Athletics Centre Incorporated 2013 - 2014 Annual Report

Once again we have been privileged to witness some inspiring and outstanding performances. Far too many to mention but we would like to congratulate all the athletes that competed for Sunbury.

We should however recognize the athletes that represented Sunbury at the Victorian State Championships. These athletes Abbey, Bella, Lara, Ashlea, Byron, Cody, Jared, Chelsea, Jemma, Declan, Junior, Sebastian, Indya, Dylan and Brock should be extremely proud of their achievements.

These events cannot take place without the help and support of parental participation. We would like to thank all the parents that filled Centre duties.

Once again, together we have cemented Sunbury as a real force at these competitions.

    Regards

    Team Managers..
