‘Football Special’ This issue of the Tadworth Times is almost entirely dedicated to Football as there’s been so much of it going on for the
children at TPS. Last week a group of children from Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 were selected to represent Tadworth at the
annual North Downs Football week competition. This year it was held at both Banstead Juniors and Epsom Downs. All
teams participated well, enjoying a whole afternoon of matches, some even playing up to 8 games. There were some
fantastic goals from the half way line, great passing and some heroic goal saving. All boys showed good sportsmanship
and although some didn’t place as high as they would have hoped, all had a good time.
As always, the children represented
Tadworth really well showing excellent
behaviour, for which we even received
compliments from other schools.
Year 5 came 7th, Year 4 came 5th, Year 2
came 4th and special congratulations go
to Year 3 who came joint 1st!
A big thank you to the parents who
came and supported their teams and to
the staff who took the time to accompa-
ny the boys.

Save the Children—Nepal Earthquake Appeal As our value of the month is ‘Charity’ we have decided that all money raised from cake days during May will go
towards the ‘Save the Children—Nepal Earthquake Appeal’. We asked the children in assembly what ‘Charity’ means
to them and giving to those in need was something that the children recognised as being really important. Though we
normally ask for 20p per cake, please feel free to give a li;le extra on cake day (Thursdays) if you wish. JK
Lions Roar! Last Saturday saw teams drawn from Years 5 and 6 compete in the
South Surrey Youth League end of season football tournament at
Brockham. The Year 6 team played 5 hard fought, 15 minute
matches drawing their first and last matches 0-0 and losing the 3
matches in between 1-0. All the matches were very close contests
where Tadworth dominated for long periods but could not convert
our chances.
Year 5 fielded two teams; the Tadworth Tigers played well but did
not have much luck in a tough group against strong opponents.
The Lions were outstanding in being undefeated and winning the
trophy for their group amid much excitement - the picture says it
all!
Congratulations are due to both years, not only for their play but
also the way they conducted themselves. Thanks also to the parents
who turned up to provide support. Malcolm Cowcher Lewis , Tom C, Ben J-C, Connor, Momin,
Jamie , Jacob and Nat

House Badges –20p All of the children were issued with a metal House Badge either when they joined the school or when they were
launched last year. They are not a compulsory part of our school uniform, however, most of the children do like
wearing them - taking pride in belonging to a team. If your son/daughter has lost their badge or if they need a re-
placement, they can be bought from the front office for 20p.
Yr 6 Leavers’ Hoodies Year 6 parents are organising ‘Leavers 15’ hoodies available in the following sizes:
Age 9 – 11 £10.50 each
Adult XS £10.50 each
Adult S £12.50 each
Please can you urgently send cheques (Made payable to Georgina Wooding) or cash to Suzanne/Karen in the
front office by Monday afternoon so we can place the order by Wednesday 13 May.
Please ensure it is in an envelope marked with your child’s name, class, hoodie size and Leavers Hoodie on the front. Whilst we are trying to have the hoodies ready for Sayers Croft, it is not guaranteed!

School Packed Lunches After Half Term We have decided to introduce a school packed lunch option for the second half of the summer term but are anxious that children do
not choose this option without their parents’ knowledge. A selection of sandwiches will be available each day and we will ensure that
children get a sandwich with a filling they like, but they will not be given a daily choice. If your child wishes to opt for a school packed
lunch, and you are happy for them to do so, please complete and return the a;ached slip. Unless we have a slip in school your child
will not be allowed to select this option. This option is also available to any children currently having a home packed lunch. The cost is
£2.10 for KS2 and free under the Universal Free School Scheme for KS1. The other options available remain the same, including jacket
potatoes. ✂———————————————————————————————————————————————————— ——————
