A summer of funWelcome to Lichfield District Council’sSummer of Fun programme. Thisyear we’ve got lots of sessions,activities and events to keepchildren and teenagers entertainedover the summer holiday.

On top of our daily playschemes for childrenaged from 5 to 11, we run play activity weeksfor children and young people aged from 7to 14. We also hold loads of holiday clubs,activities and sporty courses at our leisurecentres and parks.

So, whatever the activity, we’re sure to havesomething to make sure you have a fantasticsummer.

Playschemes for ages 5 to 11From games, arts, sports and drama, our playschemesessions offer children, aged from 5 to 11, lots of funover the summer holiday. The sessions run from Mondayto Friday and start each day at 10am and finish at 4pm.

Concessions10% of our playscheme places are available at theconcessionary or ‘concs’ rate of £5 for the day or £20 for theweek. However, concessionary places are limited, so make sureyou book early to avoid disappointment. The concessionary rateis available for Lichfield District residents who are:. on income support or job seekers allowance. Play on Prescription members (PoP). booking for a third or subsequent child in the family

Play activity weeks for ages 7 to 13We have fun activities for children and young people who want to try something new ordevelop their skills in an activity they already enjoy.

You can pay by cheque, standing order or over the phone.

If you are paying by cheque or postal order, please make it payable to Lichfield District Council and write your name andaddress on the back (if it’s a cheque).

You can pay over the phone by calling 01543 308786 from Monday to Friday, between 9.30am and 1pm. After yourchild’s place has been confirmed over the phone, please fill in the booking form and add the booking number in thepayment section and send it to us.

Useful information for playschemes and play activity weeks

Only fill in the form on page 9 if you are booking a playscheme orplay activity week. All the other summer activities can be bookedthrough our leisure centres.

Play leadersWe employ and train our play leaders and play rangers. We alsocarry out criminal disclosure checks on all our employees whowork with children. There will be someone trained in first aid ateach site.

What will your child need at the playscheme oractivity week?. Packed lunch and a plastic bottle of water. T-shirt for messy activities. Sun hat and a long-sleeved top for sun protection. Sun cream labelled with child’s name. Appropriate footwear and clothing - casual clothes asplaying can get messy and active!. Prescribed medication - you will need to complete adaily permission slip, available at the venue

Can my child take any personal items?We cannot take responsibility for any personal belongings, such asiPods, electronic games and mobile phones, and ask that childrendo not bring them.

What happens if we arrive late?If your child is going to arrive at a playscheme session after10.15am, please tell the play leader the day before, or contact theplay development team before 10.15am on the day by calling01543 308768.

Are playscheme places available on the day?You are welcome to come along on the day to see if there are anyplaces available. If the playscheme is full, but a child has notarrived by 10.15am, you can take their place.

Can my child book with a friend?If you put the application forms in the same envelope, we will doour best to place them on the same playscheme.

How can I book at the concessionary rate?10% of our playscheme places can be booked at aconcessionary rate. However, places are limited so make sure youbook early to avoid disappointment.

Cancellation policy for playschemes and playactivity weeks

When booking a place on any of our playschemes or activityweeks, it is your responsibility to make sure that they aresuitable for your child’s needs.

If you cancel your child’s place on or before 9 July 2011, we willrefund your money by cheque, less a £10 administration fee.

You can transfer your child’s place up to 9 July, but only if thealternative place is available.

We cannot offer any refunds if you cancel your child’s place after10 July 2011. This is because Lichfield District Council subsidiseseach playscheme and play activity, and it is unlikely that the placecan be re-sold after this date.

How to book playschemes or activity weeks

. Booking starts on Monday 23 May..Complete a registration form for each child. You can eitherphotocopy the form on page 9 or download one fromwww.lichfielddc.gov.uk/summerfun. Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with yourbooking form.. If applying for a concessionary place, please includeproof that you receive income support or job seekersallowance (a recent letter will do). If you are a member ofPlay on Prescription, please write your PoP card numberon the bottom of the booking form.
