27–30 November 2012: Bupa Sheffield Shield (NSW v QLD)

Watch two powerhouses of Australian cricket do battle in a state of origin style match-up. Stephen O’Keefe will captain the NSW SpeedBlitz Blues, while the XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls were last year’s Sheffield Shield champions. A great start to our Summer of Cricket.

2 December 2012: Ryobi Cup (NSW v QLD)

NSW SpeedBlitz Blues and the XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls go head-to-head again in a one-day match.

6–8 December 2012: Cricket Australia’s Chairman’s XI v Sri Lanka

This match promises to be a showcase of batting brilliance, with the Sri Lankan team boasting Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who was named ICC cricketer of the year and Test player of the year for 2012. He also won the people’s choice award.

Sri Lankan bowler Ajantha Mendis also promises to be exciting to watch, with figures of 6 for 8 against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the Twenty20 World Cup.

29 January 2013: Prime Minister’s XI v West Indies

The annual Prime Minister’s XI cricket match has been an iconic Canberra sporting event for over 25 years. The upcoming match will break with tradition, however, with this game the first to be played as a day-night match, thanks to new lights at the Oval. The Calypso Kings, direct from the West Indies, will provide off-field entertainment.

This match will see the new lights switched on at Manuka Oval for the first time.

6 February 2013: One Day International Commonwealth Bank Series – Australia v West Indies

An historic match not to be missed! This day-night game will be the first time the Australian cricket team has played in Canberra. It’s been a long-time coming and something any self-respecting cricket fan will want to see.

MORE THAN A DAY AT THE CRICKET

A day at the cricket is a great way for corporations of all sizes to entertain clients and reward staff in a relaxed and social environment. It’s also a great event to have your business associated with.

In particular, the Prime Minister’s XI and the one day international promise to be the season’s iconic events. The first will see Manuka Oval switch on its new lights for the first time, and the second will see fans witness the first time the Australian cricket team has ever taken to the pitch in Canberra.

Because these games are day-night matches and don’t start until 2.20pm, they offer a great format for corporate entertaining.

Guests don’t have to miss a day in the office and it allows the event to become an evening one based around dinner, rather than lunch.

Both these events are significant for Canberra, and are great events for corporates based in the capital to be seen at. They offer historic firsts and, of course, a great sporting event to watch.

BARLENS ACT CRICKET MARQUEE

Entertain up to 90 guests in the privacy of your own dinner cocktail function.

Guests will be seated for the match in Platinum seating within the Sir Donald Bradman Stand. During the dinner break, entertain guests with a private cocktail party before returning to watch the remainder of the match.
