AN INTroducTIoN To The BAckfeNce SocIeTY

The concept began with the idea of neighbors

talking over a back fence. A safe place to spark up a conversation and share ideas. This innocent discourse can lead to a shared interest in creating something bigger than the sum of its parts. This "backfence" serves as a symbol for this place where minds meet and make things happen.

The Backfence Society was born out of a desire to produce group art exhibitions that generate enthusiasm and excitement in the local community. Providing artists with a platform to showcase their work, we aim to inspire creative minds.

Established in 2011, we've since produced three art exhibitions examining various themes.

Summer Nocturne marks the fourth show for our group, but the first time we are working in cooperation with the city of Vista, its Community Development Commission and the Vista Art Foundation.

This has been our most ambitious exhibition to date, and we would like to thank all of the talented artists and supporters who, without, these shows would not be possible.
