Summer Math Learning Packet Students entering Grade 6 Purpose: It is important for all students to review math concepts and processes during the summer. Intentional practice of math skills will help students reach mastery of required material and increase their ability to use facts and operations easily and accurately (fluency). There will also be skill areas or knowledge the students need to strengthen (reinforce) or even build upon further through enrichment opportunities. Time spent working on mastery, reinforcement, and enrichment will greatly benefit all students. What parents/guardians can do to support the student: Make a practice plan and help your daughter set goals. Recognize your daughter’s strengths. Help your daughter to identify the areas of mathematics she would like to focus on over the summer. Check in with your daughter periodically. Create a system with your daughter to monitor and track progress. How to record your work: Students can choose from the options below on how they would like to record their summer work. Use a spiral bound notebook to keep track of your work. Record the date to match the date on the calendar. Show any work you do. Keep track of your work using a Google Doc. Share the doc with me through Lincoln’s Google Docs account. NOTE: There may be concepts on the calendar that you have not learned, or that you cannot remember how to do. That is fine! Be resourceful! Use Google, your parents, a friend, or some of the websites listed to learn to do the concept. (Some of the website links on the calendar will need to be copied into your browser, rather than just clicking on them.)
