Summer Intern: Finance and Business Operaons (FBO) Summary: The Finance and Business Operaons Group (FBO) is seeking a high performing professional (graduate or bachelor level student) who is looking for an opportunity to expand their knowledge and skill sets in a variety of areas within the energy and energy-related industry. This individual will spend up to a semester (or summer) as an intern in FBO to acquaint themselves with Pinnacle West Capital Corporaon and its main subsidiary, Arizona Public Service (APS). The posion requires excellent oral and wrien communicaon skills. The candidate should have solid understanding of finance, accounng including strong data management and research capabilies plus ability to work in a matrix reporng environment. The individual will be expected to assist in a variety of assignments within FBO and be a strong team player. This posion will be a paid internship and requires minimal travel. As part of this program you will network with other interns and employees across the company. You will be treated as a full- me employee, with paid holidays and a fun-energec atmosphere. In other words, the internship will challenge you but also provide you an interesng and engaging corporate experience! Responsibilies and Essenal Dues: Responsibilies in FBO will include budgeng, forecasng, financial analysis to support business decisions, periodic management business performance reporng, cost trend and root cause analysis, process documentaon and communicaon of results to appropriate levels of Company management. The Intern dues may include the following: Under general supervision, provide support to business units in ulizaon of capital and O&M budgets, current year and long-range forecasts. Support monthly accounng close and management reporng process by performing budget variance analysis and preparaon of variance explanaons. Where necessary, coordinate with Accounng to ensure proper financial statement recording and accounng treatment on nonstandard transacons and events. Perform financial analyses supporng development of financial models and execuon of variance analysis, cash flow analysis, internal rate of return calculaons, operang expense and financial results reporng and analysis, and other related financial analyses. Compile relevant data, update financial modeling and report applicaons, evaluate and report results. Evaluate operaonal and financial business scenarios by ulizaon of corporate financial models. Provide support in the formulaon of model inputs and processing of data through financial models. Collaborate with Finance and Business Operaons staff, leadership and business unit management in idenfying, recommending, and developing taccal and strategic business case opportunies. Compile relevant data, perform variance analyses, updates business operaons reports supporng execuon of business plan iniave execuon and results, and business metric gap analysis. Parcipate in development, compilaon, presentaon and communicaon of performance report packages for management reporng including idenficaon of significant findings and conclusions through the use of exisng technology and strong understanding of business unit financial and operaons related data. Assist business unit staff in the applicaon and analysis of internal financial models. Qualificaons Successful candidates will be pursuing a bachelor or graduate degree within one of the disciplines related to business, finance, accounng, economics, engineering, informaon technology, or mathemacs from an accredited college/university and is enrolled full-me. Must possess good academic aptude; strong wrien, verbal communicaon, and presentaon skills; analycal and crical thinking skills, and have the desire to take on significant responsibility. In addion to having a good work ethic, candidates should have the ability to define work programs, collect and document evidence, analyze informaon and evaluate evidence to reach conclusions. Strong proficiency in Microsoſt Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essenal.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties: Responsibilities in FBO will include budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis to support business decisions, periodic management business performance reporting, cost trend and root cause analysis, process documentation and communication of results to appropriate levels of Company management.

The Intern duties may include the following:

Collaborate with Finance and Business Operations staff, leadership and business unit management in identifying, recommending, and developing tactical and strategic business case opportunities.

Compile relevant data, perform variance analyses, updates business operations reports supporting execution of business plan initiative execution and results, and business metric gap analysis.

Participate in development, compilation, presentation and communication of performance report packages for management reporting including identification of significant findings and conclusions through the use of existing technology and strong understanding of business unit financial and operations related data. Assist business unit staff in the application and analysis of internal financial models.

Qualifications Successful candidates will be pursuing a bachelor or graduate degree within one of the disciplines related to business, finance, accounting, economics, engineering, information technology, or mathematics from an accredited college/university and is enrolled full-time.
