…………………Jim Rohn Holiday is the time that we all eagerly wait for. We all make plans to enjoy, to relax and
to empower ourselves during these gala days. This summer vacation the Holiday
Homework so designed by the mentors of the school is a medium for you all to achieve
the motto of “Fun and Learn”
The activity based assignments will foster curiosity, develop creativity , enhance
knowledge and instil the joy of learning among you all. They will certainly help you
discover a new you who is more enriched and confident and performs every action to
perfection.
As it is well recognized that Mount Abu Public School not only fousses on academics
but lay equal importance on Co-scholastic Competencies .The school also desires you
to adhere to the following guidelines for a fulfilling break:
REMEMBER
• Neatness and presentation are common parameters for most of the activities
assigned. Please maintain the quality of work done.
• Complete and submit the holiday homework according to the dates given. Note down
these dates carefully as late submission after these dates is not acceptable and you
will be losing the marks/grades for the same if you miss the date.
• Holiday homework will be assessed on certain parameters and marks/grade will be
awarded accordingly.
• Make sure that all syllabus done till May must be revised thoroughly in the last two
weeks of June as it will help you to retain and adjust after the long break.
BE A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING:KEEP IN MIND TO
• Follow a schedule during holidays. Be a good time manager .
• Read newspapers daily and stay updated with current affairs.
• Do the homework independently, only ask for assistance from your parents or
guardians
• Give time to pursue your hobby.
• Appreciate nature and go for “Nature Walks”, plant trees and spread the message of
Nature Conservation”
• Remember to have a wide mouth container filled with water outside your house for
the birds to get respite from the scorching heat.
• Pray to almighty daily and thank for the blissful life that you enjoy.
• Be a helping hand to your parents and learn the skill of shared responsibility.
• Do the work by following the guidelines given with each work or activity
• Always wish and welcome the guests with a smile.
• Spend time with your parents and grandparents ,their rich experience will help you
overcome challenges with ease.
• Minimise the use of gadgets
• Keep the home clean and mess free.
• After eating, keep the plate in your kitchen and rather love washing it yourself.
• Water the plants and rejoice the beauty of nature.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLE BE YOUR PRIORITY
• Give prime importance to your health. Eat lots of fruits, do exercise and get into yoga
• Pledge for “Eat Right -Less Sugar, Less Oil and Less Salt”
• Wash hands frequently, especially before and after meal.
• Avoid sharing of towel, handkerchief, brush with others.
• Trim of nails and hair regularly.
• Drink a lot of liquid like water and other natural sources of water like tender coconut
water, aam panna , lime water, Buttermilk etc.
REQUEST TO PARENTS
Summer vacation time is an opportunity to spend the quality time with your child and
make him/her feel special of his unique identity..
So just spare sometime and do the following:
• As parents and teachers, we understand the importance of developing the habit of
eating healthy food. This is the best time when children can enjoy the healthy food
with the family. As you are aware that our students enjoy the FRUIT break in the
beginning of the day on daily basis in the school, during holidays also we want them
to follow the same habit at home.
• Let your child watch some entertaining educational TV shows such as discovery
kids, animal planet and make the learning interesting.
• Engage them to learn music/dance/theatre/ any other dance form to bring them
close India’s Art & Culture.
• Talk about omni presence of God and humility being developed with regular prayers
and doing good deeds as to offer best prayer to the God. Take them some religious
places.
• Let them feed the poor and share things with needy people with love, let them enjoy
the Art of Giving.
• Visit at least one out of these “Orphanage, Old age home, Blind home” etc. Such
activities will help the child to grow with love and humility.
• Watch some good movies with your ward on love, compassion, humanity, kindness,
forgiveness etc.
• Talk about the importance of parents and elders. Have at least 4-5 meals together.

• How to do: Create a magazine of your own having about 6 pages of news updates.
Give a title. Create various sections:

2. Being a poet
• How to do: Make a poem based on the story “A Most Important Person” by Margaret
Weymouth Jackson. (4 stanzas)

3. Collage on “My Dreams”
• How to do: Make a collage on the topic “My dreams” using pictures from newspapers
and magazines. You can also add your own photograph.

4. Gaming zone
• How to do: Create an interesting portable game on any topic from the given list. Ex-
Card games, board games, treasure hunt, etc. It can be a made for an individual
player or for multiple players. Topics:

d) Phrases and Clauses
• Materials Required: Any waste material at your home like card boards, sheets, used
bottles, etc.

4. Comparative analysis
• How to do: Choose any one novel from the given list and read it. Watch the movie
based on the same novel in English from youtube. Then, review the story based on
the following key points in about 5-6 pages:
a) About the author
b) Summary
c) Favourite character
d) Which one did you like more, the story or the movie and why?

5. Developing a Monologue
• How to do: Choose any product of your choice and prepare an advertisement having
a monologue of about 1 minute which you will present in the class. No use of props
is allowed.

• Revise for your periodic-1 exam syallabus which is scheduled on 5.7.2019.

1. The math and magic of origami
• How to do- The students will prepare a tessellation using geometrical shapes.
• Where to do- Create 20cm x 20cm tessellation using origami sheets of different
colours.
• Parameters- Innovation, originality and creativity.
2. Explore and develop a power point presentation
• How to do- The students will prepare a power point presentation with minimum
8-10 slides depicting different types of polygons.
• Note: show the classification of polygons on the basis of :
i) no. of sides or vertices
ii) regular or irregular polygons
iii) convex and concave polygons.

• How to do-
✓ Roll no.1-24, will make a beautiful poster depicting mathematical tricks.

4. Fun with Rationals:
• How to do- To explore the properties of the different operations on rational
numbers. Based on the studies the students are expected to observe and analyze

5. Let’s explore the real world :
• How to do- Visit to the bank branch in which you have a bank account. Deposit
certain cash amount in your account and fill a deposit pay slip with complete

1. Rotting Fruit
• Materials required: Banana, kiwi, apple, orange, a camera
• How to do: Determine which of the following fruits: Banana, kiwi, apple, orange,
rot the fastest.
✓ Place each type of fruit in a separate bowl where they will not be handled.
✓ Keep them at room temperature.

3. Breathe in, Breathe Out
• Materials Required: Measuring tape, Observation table (given below)
• How to do:
✓ Observe and record the changes in the size of chest during breathing
✓ Call any five of your friends or relatives
✓ Ask them one by one to take deep breath and expand his/her chest as much as
possible.
✓ Measure the size of chest with measuring tape and record.
✓ Now let him/her breath out and measure his/her chest with same measuring
tape and record your observation.
✓ The difference in the two readings of the measuring tape will give the maximum
expansion in the size of the chest.

1. Protecting our Earth- Flip Book
• How to do: Prepare a flip book on the topic protecting our earth of around 10
sheets
• Details:
✓ For the first five sheets of the flip book, prepare ‘to do list for the planet Earth’
i.e what can be done and needs to be done to make earth a better place to live
in (general points)
✓ Prepare list to save our resources i.e land, soil, water, energy, air, environment,
plants, animals.
✓ For the second half of the flip book i.e next five sheets, list all the steps that the
student and parent has done or taken initiative (in summer break/ in general)
to make earth a better place to live in.(specific steps):
• Like efforts to switch off the lights whenever not in use.
• Use of bicycle by student in order to commute to nearby places rather
than using car or any other vehicle which produces smoke and hence air
pollution.
✓ Also paste pictures if possible for specific efforts taken in order to make earth a
better place to live in.
• Where to do: Use 5 A3 size sheets, divide them in half in order to prepare a flip
book (Use colourful sheets). The cover page of the flip book has to be really
attractive.
2. Become a tutor
• How to do: You are suppose to become a mentor/tutor for a kid (preferably the
one in need). You are required to teach the student or help him or her in studies
(Ex-giving lesson of basic calculations of mathematics which are quite useful in
day to day lives). You would paste your student’s work in A4 size sheets along with
pictures of conducting class or lesson for him/her. You are also required to provide
the details of the topics taught.
OR
Visit to old age home
• How to do: You are required to visit an old age home along with your parents.
Spend your entire day with aged people over there. Make cards for them and try to
bring smile on their faces. Take home cooked food /cookies for them and get
pictures clicked with them.
✓ Write a report of your visit.
✓ Share your experience on A4 size sheets.
✓ Paste pictures of your visit
✓ Your work is to be attached in a folder.
3. Holidays around the world
“Celebrating different cultures and traditions is important for all students.” Following
is the activity to enrich student’s knowledge about the same.
• How to do: Prepare a chart in the project file listing about the fascinating and
interesting holidays around the world.
• Details:
✓ Select any one country each from the following continents: Asia, Europe, Africa,
North America, South America and South Korea.
✓ Now list any two national holidays for each country selected above.
✓ For each holiday selected, give detailed description and the reason for the
celebration of respective festival or event.
✓ You are required to give the date for holiday (if any)
✓ Explain the reason of the national holiday, explain how is it celebrated (if it is a
festival), why it is celebrated, when it is celebrated and where it is celebrated.

4. Ten weirdest places across the world
“The world we live in is a very interesting place. Each place on this Earth has its own
unique features. Some features are not just unique but also seem weird to our human
minds”. Following activity is based on such weird places.
• How to do: Look and search for at least 10 weirdest places on the earth. Give
detailed description of each (in 30 words) . Explain about the place with the reason
of its weirdness (in 30 words). Paste beautiful pictures for the same.

• Revise and learn History chapter 1 and 2 i.e The modern Period and The expansion
of British empire, Geography chapter 1(Resources) and Civics chapter 1(The
constitution and need for laws).

INTEGRATED HOLIDAYS HOMEWORK
Homework based on Integrated application of knowledge enhances thinking and
creative skills. Students will do integrated homework on “Life on Land” where they will
work on variegated activities in divergent subjects. Collect information & material. The
projects will be done in the school after vacation.
English: Collect 10-15 pictures for the collage to depict present, past and future
scenario of “Life on Land”.
Maths: Calculate the data of percentage decreases in population of any five endangered
species in the world in the years 1997, 2007 and 2017. Represent the data in tabular
form.
Science: Search about at least 10 possible reasons behind alarming reduction in the
number of the insect and animal species. Find out at least 10 impacts of human
activities on the animals and insects.
Social Science:
• Search the required information and updates yourself on the subtopics given below:

learning. In our class rooms there are set classroom rules. Let us try to make those
rules more comprehensive.
• How to do-On A3 size sheet, create your classroom
rules using text and pictures. Follow the given steps:
• THINK: What are the goals of the classroom? What
rules would help you achieve those goals?
• PREPARE: A Mission Statement for classroom (It should be brief)
• REFLECT: On the times you felt the classroom learning was successful or you felt
the classroom experience could have been better. What do you need others to do to
