Our first Summer Festivalsponsored by TRNA is history .From what I gather, theneighborhood enjoyed the eventvery much and was impressed withthe scope and quality of our efforts.
First and foremost, I want toexpress my sincere appreciation toall the volunteers who gaveunselfishly of their time and workon this event. There isn't enough
.room to list all of your names here, but you deserve all.the credit for ajob well done. THANK YOu.soMUCH!
Youth sports events attracted 46entries. Many of them aredisplaying trophies or ribbons onthe walls of their bedrooms, havingwon the top gun awards from theseevents. The tennis and fun runevents were lightly attended.
The teen dance was wellattended. I understand over 100youth came and ate 28 pizzas anddrank 14 cases of soda. We hopethey had fun and that many willwork with our Youth Committeeon future events.
The parade was just great-42units-wow! It's nice to see peoplefrom our neighborhood marchingalong with others who came fromoutside our area, a very colorfulevent for all ages. How about thefour jet flyby! Did you get a balloonride?
Children's activities were a lotof fun and were well attended. In
this hot weather, the water balloontoss was a big favorite. All enjoyedthe dance and gymnasticdemonstrations. The heavy rainsended the event and wrapped upthe day on Saturday.
Parks and Recreation from thecity put on a fine show for theneighborhood on Sundayafternoon. We hope we can getthem to come back again next year.
Our booths proved a niceattraction. We had 27 displayed onSaturday and 17 on Sunday. Thanks for your participation.
The carnival provided a nicechange of pace for the event. Theowner is happy with our patronageand the kids seem to have had funon the rides.
We want to thank the city ofAlbuquerque, Mesa View UnitedMethodist Church, the Shoppes atTaylor Ranch and Homestead Hillsshopping centers, Walgreens' andAlbertsons I for their cooperation
and assistance in producing theSummer Festival.
The purpose of TRNA is to"Promote, Protect, and Improvethe Quality of Life in TaylorRanch." We hope that the SummerFestival made a positivecontribution to that challenge. Iinvite all who wish to comment onthe festival, pro or con, to give mea call at 897-1700. The board ofdirectors will receive my finalreport at the end of J~ly. They will

Recycling
We set a record in June. Wecollected just over 8,500 pounds ofrecyclable material and collected$137. We are staying on budget forthe year. This amounts to aboutnineteen pounds of material perTRNA family or about one and ahalf pounds per Taylor Ranchhome.
The next date for recycling isSaturday, July 13,11:00 AM to 2:00PM at the Shoppes at Taylor Ranch(Walgreens) parking lot. Thepasteboard-boxes that cereal orlaundry detergent come in are notrecyclable. However, bring us youraluminum, corrugated cardboard
11
(grocery bags and the brown insertsin newspapers count as cardboard),newspapers, and clear glass.Computer paper and white officepaper are welcome also.Remember, in order to beautifyTaylor Ranch, we must turn trashto cash. A successful recyclingprogram is necessary to generateincome for our landscaping goals.
Median Landscaping
The goal is to landscape a majorsection of median this autumn. Thiswill be done as a demonstrationthat water conservation and nicelooking medians can be achieved. If you have ability, talent, or interestin 'this area, we need your help.
~"Neighborhood Cleanup

The Membership Committeereports 449 members. We receivedseven new membershipapplications at the SummerFestival. I would like to thankComet Cleaners and TommyThompson and his crew for the
free hot air balloon rides onSaturday. We couldn't have gottena more professional crew. I alsowant to apologize for the fact thatwe didn't have any rides forSunday morning. The people thatcame to the park were very
understanding.In the tennis tournament, the
Men's Single Final was won byJ erry Sinkouec and in MixedDoubles, Jerry and his partnerJessie took with first place. Now Iknow why Marlboro doesn'tsponsor any tennis tournaments. .
