Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced photographer, capture the vibrancy of Summer as you expand your knowledge of your digital camera functions beyond auto point & shoot settings through instruction in the foundations of manual operations covering aperture, shutter, film speed, and more. Explore portraiture, still-lifes, and nature up-close and at a distance using natural, flash, and studio lighting. Materials fee will be applied to printing photos for critique and display. Students are required to supply their own camera; your camera must have a full manual mode, with aperture, shutter, and ISO controls.

Interested in learning the in’s and out’s of professional matting? Then this class is for you! Let ArtHaus walk you through the basics of cutting and assembling mats for presentation in this new hands-on class. Use of a wide array of mat board, foam core and frames will be supplied with your materials fee. Students can expect to mat up to 3 works and frame one; works for matting should be under 20”x24” with work for framing under 10”x12”.

Join ArtHaus for a weekend (or two) of designing, snipping, gluing and grouting with Linda Elkins. Choose from a variety of canvas - house numbers, bird houses, a handmade wooden frame ideal for photos or a small mirror, or come with your own special project to mosaic. Open to beginning or experienced participants. Must register a week in advance to ensure materials can be ordered and prepped. Sign up for both weekends for just $250!!

Work in earthenware clay to explore the intricacies of the face a feature at a timeorganically. S, sculpting a full face by the end of the four week class. Students can choose to base their works on a live model or w or work with mirrors for a self-portrait approach. Completed sculptures will be fired and non-ceramic finishes investigated.

ArtHaus now opens it’s doors for you to come in and create to your hearts content with space provided for you to store your works in progress. Your membership includes in-house use of basic materials and access to all our equipment and tools. Additional materials such as art canvas, archival papers, sculpting materials, printing inks are available for an additional charge or bring your own. Studio managers will be on hand to provide project assistance as requested. Students 9 year of age and younger should be accompanied by an adult or older sibling at all times.

Let ArtHaus be the host of your next birthday or special event, with an artsy party! We provide a creative activity that will take most groups 1 ½ to 2 hours (see options online) with time for treats before or afterwards. Perfect for ages 4+, we can accommodate up to 14 youngsters or 12 adults. Must be scheduled minimum of 2 weeks in advance. If scheduling a party for ages 12 or younger, one parent or adult chaperone must be present. Outside food, drink, and decorations welcome.

Fees include all materials for a project lead by an ArtHaus instructor. Add-on collaborative mementos available (see options online).

Designed with teens in mind, this beginning photo class will help you take your camera off of manual mode and teach you to play with various settings to achieve intriguing and well composed photos. Learn to capture motion, explore depths of field and low-light settings, and more. Your materials fee will be applied to printing photos for critique and display.

Students should be able to supply their own camera with full manual mode capabilities: aperture, shutter, and ISO controls. If you do not have a camera to use, please contact ArtHaus to make arrangements for borrowing one from a Friend of ArtHaus.

Where family bonding meets creative expression! Take part in our continuing series of family-focused workshops, held the second Sunday of each month, featuring projects designed to encourage collective making and creative thinking. Tuition cost covers materials and instruction for up to one adult and one child (ages 2+ welcome). Add additional participants (adults or children) to your registration as needed.

Projects will include: Dad’s Day Cards & Collages (June), Mobiles & Suncatchers (July), Stenciled T’s and Canvas (August)

YAP FOR AGES 13-18ArtHaus is pleased to announce it’s third year of the Youth Apprenticeship Program for art-loving teens, ages 13-18, interested in developing their own artistic expression, exploring arts entrepreneurship, and learning through mentorship and public art projects. Apprentices will meet weekly for two hours with other opportunities including offsite field trips, evening and weekend volunteer opportunities, and more available throughout the program, which runs October through May. A $200 annual participation fee applies. Application information is available at www.arthausdecorah.org.

REGISTRATION/CANCELLATION POLICYArtHaus requires that you make partial or full payment to hold your spot at the time of registration. For visual art classes, camps or workshops the materials fee must be pre-paid as a deposit to hold your spot. If the class is cancelled due to low enrollment (a minimum of four students are needed to run a class), participants will receive a full refund for any payments made. If participants choose to withdraw from the class or workshop due to scheduling conflicts or otherwise after the class has begun, a partial refund will be given for classes the student can no longer attend. However, the materials fee will not be refunded.
