Summer College is an exclusive opportunity for academically talented and gifted current high school sophomores and juniors to earn 6 or 7 college credits while living on one of the most beautiful campuses on the East Coast. Students stay in state-of-the-art, air-conditioned residence halls and take courses with other Summer College students, while enjoying the independence and excitement that can only be found at a top national university. Courses are taught by University faculty and are designed to encourage students to extend their knowledge in new directions through interactive classes and interesting assignments, and to provide a supportive environment where learning is valued for its own sake. Summer College is under the direction of the University of Delaware Honors Program which serves intellectually and academically adventuresome students through small classes, academic scholarships, superb teaching, Honors housing, and many other programs – not to mention contact with some of the most interesting minds on campus. EligibilitySuccessful Summer College students should:• Be taking college prep, honors, and/or AP coursework• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA• Have a combined score of at least 1000 on the Math and

Verbal sections of the PSAT or SAT• Summer College students must be 16 years of age by the

start of Summer College and completed their sophomore or junior year of high school

Program FeeOur Program Fee will be posted on our Web site in early January. The Program Fee covers:• Housing and meals for the 5-week session• Tuition and fees for 6 or 7 college credits• Use of all University facilities and intramural athletic

fields and courts, including the student fitness center• Most extracurricular activities, programs, and trips

ScholarshipS and Financial AidAcademic merit scholarships are available to qualified students. Financial Aid is awarded on the combined basis of academic merit and financial need.

Thank you so much for letting me participate in the Summer College Program. It was the best Five weeks of my life and a totally unforgettable experience. I hope to do it again next year.

• Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis once application packets are complete

• Application deadline is May 15 (Between May 15 and June 15 late applications are accepted on a space-available basis only.) No applications will be accepted after June 15

• Deadline to apply for financial aid is May 1

CoursesUD Summer College courses are the same University of Delaware courses taught during the regular semester and 5-week Winter and Summer Sessions. The 6 or 7 credits students earn can be applied to UD or in most cases, can be transferred to other colleges or universities.

Courses, taught by University faculty, are typically offered in: Biology, Chemistry, Communication, English, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Economics, History, Math, Music, Nutrition and Theatre.
