of his salvation, that we and the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

The Old Testament Lesson: Jonah 3:1-5, 10

A Reading from the Book of Jonah.

The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying, “Get up, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.” So Jonah set out and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly large city, a three days' walk across. Jonah began to go into the city, going a day's walk. And he cried out, “Forty days more, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” And the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast, and everyone, great and small, put on sackcloth. When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil ways, God changed his mind about the calamity that he had said he would bring upon them; and he did not do it.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

The Psalter: Psalm 62:6-14 – Said by ALL – Remaining SEATED

6 For God alone my soul in silence waits; * truly my hope is in him. 7 He alone is my rock and my salvation, * my stronghold, so that I shall not be shaken. 8 In God is my safety and my honor; * God is my strong rock and my refuge. 9 Put your trust in him always, O people, * pour out your hearts before him, for God is our refuge. 10 Those of high degree are but a fleeting breath, * even those of low estate cannot be trusted.

11 On the scales they are lighter than a breath, * all of them together. 12 Put no trust in extortion; in robbery take no empty pride; *

though wealth increase, set not your heart upon it. 13 God has spoken once, twice have I heard it, * that power belongs to God. 14 Steadfast love is yours, O Lord, *

for you repay everyone according to his deeds. The Epistle: I Corinthians 7:29-31

A Reading from the First Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.I mean, brothers and sisters, the appointed time has grown short; from now on, let even those who have wives be as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no possessions, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

We believe in one God,the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,eternally begotten of the Father,God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made,of one Being with the Father.Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation

he came down from heaven:by the power of the Holy Spirit

he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose againin accordance with the Scriptures;he ascended into heavenand is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Because in the mystery of the Word made flesh you have caused a new light to shine in our hearts, to give the knowledge of your glory in the face of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:SANCTUS – “Holy, holy, holy Lord” – Hymnal S-129 Setting: Robert PowellThe Celebrant and People sing:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

The People kneel (as able) and the Celebrant continues

e give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your

Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.

WOn the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION – Hymnal *S- 138 Setting: McNeil Robinson

We remember his death,We proclaim his resurrection,We await his coming in glory.

The Celebrant continues

And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine.

We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with the ever-Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, Saint Thomas, Saint Mark, Saint Andrew, Saint John, Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Saint Patrick and all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation.

By him, and with him, and in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory are yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever.

PARISH NEWS for The THIRD SUNDAY after THE EPIPHANY – January 24, 2021

THE SEASON AFTER THE EPIPHANY continues today and in the weeks ahead. The Church and the Lectionary focus us on several aspects of our faith during this time. These themes include light, call and mission. Light brings to mind the Star of Bethlehem which guided the Magi to Jesus and which guides all of us spiritually to Him who is “the light of the world.” Call reminds us that just as our Lord Called His first disciples to follow Him, so He Calls ALL of us to be His followers. Mission reminds us that the Church’s mission is always to spread the Gospel – the Good News of Jesus. This is a Season when Ordinations often take place, as those with special Callings seek to fulfill that Call. We think also of those who are Called to serve as missionaries overseas. This is a time of outreach, when we focus intently on meeting the needs of the poor and downcast, thus further spreading the Gospel. Your Clergy’s Sermons will focus on these themes during this Season. We know you will enjoy these special aspects of The Season after The Epiphany.

WHILE OUR IN-PERSON WORSHIP REMAINS LIMITED by the pandemic, we continue to livestream services to the Parish Hall. This allows an additional 10 persons to attend. And we are permitted many more in parked cars, who can also watch the livestream. At the Closing Hymn, Fr. Allan will bring Holy Communion to anyone not in the Church. Please join us in one of these ways!

YOUR 2021 OFFERING ENVELOPES ARE AVAILABLE! Check the table near the Chapel at the rear of the Church. Please pick up yours, and help us with delivery to anyone not here. Because of the pandemic, we will mail any that are not picked up. If you do not find your packet, let us know and we will supply one. Great thanks to Assistant Treasurer Bob Mann for his good work on this!

PLEASE HELP YOURSELF TO A CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA! Take one to enjoy at home or as a gift for someone who is sick or shut-in. Take from those on the Chancel steps or at the Baptistery. Those at the two Altars will be kept in the Church through Candlemas. Thank you!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO GIVE ALTAR FLOWERS?  Fr. Allan has completed a draft of the 2021 Altar Flowers Chart.  There are several "OPEN" dates this year, and we hope to fill them.  This is a meaningful way to prayerfully remember departed loved ones or to honor a special anniversary or birthday.  Cost is $35 for two Altar vases, beautifully arranged by Stoner's Florist.  After Sunday services, you may take your flowers to enjoy at home, to give to loved ones or to send to a sick or shut-in person.  To sign up for Altar Flowers, call Fr. Allan at 301-491-6888 or Email him at [email protected].  Thank you!
