We are delighted to offer many one-week camps this year! Some of our new one-week camps include Crafting Craze, where campers will use natural materials like sticks, leaves, and rocks to create traditional crafts. This year, we will offer a Drone Camp that incorporates the science and technology behind the mechanics of drones as well as the opportunity to compete in drone racing tournaments! Also new this year are one-week Language Arts programs for grades 1–2 and grades 3–4, using the Magic Tree House book series. Stacey Walker, Princeton Day School Math Specialist, has created a 2-week Math Program for grades 1 –2 and grades 3–4, as well.

Spend two weeks of summer developing mathematical skills using a growth mindset approach to learning math! Growth mindset is an exciting concept developed by Carol Dweck that has been promoted and taught by Stanford’s Jo Boaler. Boaler has a website dedicated to it, called Youcubed.org.

than talent This exciting new class will show students the benefits and examples of Growth Mindset and ways of thinking and learning math using that approach. Students will work through select problems from Jo Boaler’s website, Youcubed.org that engage number sense and explore patterns and space. Students will share ideas from others and learn ideas from others. They will also partner up to play other tried and true dice and card games that reinforce skills while having fun. CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE

Have you ever wanted to summit Mount Washington or spend the night in a remote cabin in the White Mountain National Forest? Spend a few days canoeing and camping along an American Heritage river? Stay in a lean-to along the edge of a pristine northern Vermont lake to enjoy days of canoeing, swimming, and fishing? Complete a night climb of a 4,000 ft. mountain to watch the sunrise? If so, this trip is perfect for you. Gather family members, old friends, or neighbors and we will customize a week-long trip to fit your interests, bucket list, or sense of challenge and adventure. Open to the first group that contacts us, you will meet with the trip leader to discuss a list of possibilities that range throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. From that first meeting will come an outline and estimate of costs. Final preparations of itinerary, schedule, and detailed costs will follow. Whenever possible we will provide transportation, gear, tents, and

food. This trip can be designed to fit an adventurous group of young parents and children that want to be introduced to a variety of outdoor activities or a group that is experienced and wants to push the limits and explore new, more challenging aspects of their favorite outdoor pastimes. Aaron Schomburg, PDS science teacher of 24 years and adventure camp leader for nearly 20 years, will help organize and lead this trip. Group size: 3–10. Ages: 7–99. Cost- dependent on group size and itinerary.

DRONE CAMP

Summer camp program accommodates all learning levels – whether or not you have ever flown or even seen a drone before. All of the Drobots programs include personalized guidance, confidence building, tailored instruction and a variety of fun activities appropriate for kids and pre-teens. All in a friendly and safe environment!

New Programs

CRAFTING CRAZE

This camp will involve running around and creating natural and traditional crafts using collected material like sticks, leaves, rocks, and mud! We will create many natural crafts using material the campers gather themselves. While the sun dries handmade paper and candles cool off, we’ll play games and run around. These campers will have plenty of fun crafts to show off! Gr. 1–4

DEBATE CLUB

Campers will learn how to construct and deliver effective oral arguments. They will frequently engage in lively, structured debates with one another. Time and attention will be devoted to researching the debate topics in order to back up claims with facts, and campers will be taught proper public speaking methods. This program will stress public speaking delivery, organizational skills, quick thinking, awareness of issues and knowledge of current events. Gr. 5–8

HISTORY – AMERICAN

Campers will explore history by examining documents, artwork, photos, literature, songs, and movie clips. Using these source materials, campers will practice historical analysis by writing on broad, essential questions. These one-week courses will explore the American Revolution, The Civil War, World Wars and Modern Post-War Era. Gr. 5–8

LANGUAGE ARTS

Using the Magic Tree House series, children will engage in literacy activities to build comprehension and fluency in reading, and writing activities related to the book’s plot and characters.

For grades 1 & 2, the one-week books will be Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning and Pirates Past Noon.

Using the same series for grades 3 & 4, the books read will be Sunset at Sabertooth, Ghost Town at Sundown, Stage Fright on a Summer Night and Monday with a Mad Genius.

LENNI LENAPE

Join us in exploring the past of New Jersey by looking at its first inhabitants, the Lenni Lenape! Campers will get to know what it would have been like to live in a Lenni Lenape community by creating Native American crafts such as a mini wigwam, moccasins, natural rattles and more! Campers will hear Native American myths and legends. Gr. 1–4

SURVIVE!

Do you have what it takes to survive the PDS wilderness? Find out! During this full day, one-week adventure, campers will learn the basics of survival in the wilderness, learning fire building, shelter making, water filtering, and more! Gr. 4–6
