HONR 1100A Changes of Our Chemical World Field Study (Summer 2011, 1 credit) Instructor: Dimitri Giarikos, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Chemistry and Physics giarikos@nova.edu | (954) 262-8337 | Parker Building, Room 347

This Honors course explores how the chemistry of the land, air, and water has changed overtime. Areas of investigation will include energy, climate change, farming, land, air, and water pollution. Students will learn how the Earth’s chemical changes have impacted the world—by not just reading about and discussing them, but by visiting sites where these changes have occurred. Students will keep a journal during the trip, recording their observations, reactions, and forming hypotheses at the various areas visited. They will present their experiences through oral presentations upon their return. (Honors students only; prerequisite: HONR 1000V)
