Community PlaygroundA Great Summer Experience!Ages 6-12 Must have completed 1st Grade

Site: Hickory Grove Center 2600 S. Sunny Slope Rd.

There are three, three-week playground sessions. During each session, your child will be able to attend each day,

Monday through Friday.The program offers 3 different options:

Early Bird 7:30 - 9:00 AM Community Playground 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

EARLY BIRD 7:30 - 9:00 AMFor an additional fee, participants can be dropped off at HickoryGrove Center between 7:30 am - 9:00 am. Although regular play-ground activities will not begin until 9:00 am, “Early Birds” will besupervised by the playground staff. In order to register for “EarlyBird”, participants must be registered for the same session ofCommunity Playground. Enrollment is optional, however is limited.

COMMUNITY PLAYGROUND 9:00 AM - 4:00 PMThis is the same program which has been offered to the commu-nity for many years. Our experienced staff will provide your childwith many fun activities such as art projects, non-competitivegames, an indoor gymnasium for all kinds of fun games, a gameroom, computers and outdoor playground equipment. Swim-ming field trips will be offered on Tuesday afternoons. Duringcommunity playground times there are many additional programopportunities for your child. You may sign up for one, two, or allthree sessions. Also, see page 5 for Awesome August.

EXTENDED DAY 4:00 - 5:30 PMFor an additional fee, participants can be picked up at HickoryGrove Center between 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm. Although regular play-ground activities end at 4:00 pm, “Extended Day” will be super-vised by the playground staff. In order to register for “ExtendedDay”, participants must be registered for the same session of Com-munity Playground. Enrollment is optional, however is limited.

FIELD TRIPS:The cost of field trips are included in the program so you must beregistered for the current session in order to attend the field trips.There will be no playground activities taking place at HickoryGrove Center the days field trips are being conducted. All staff willbe attending the field trips to provide adequate supervision ofparticipants. If you would prefer your child to not attend a partic-ular field trip, they will need to stay home on the day of the trip.Please notify the Playground staff at least 1 week prior to the fieldtrip if your child will not be attending. There is no pro-rating offees for field trips not attended.

As field trip dates get closer, you will receive printed flyers withfurther details on each specific field trip, such as what to wear,what to bring, etc. While it is unlikely; field trip dates are

subject to change. Transportation to and from the field trip site isincluded in the program fee. All field trip admission fees are in-cluded in the program fee.

LEADERSHIP/STAFFINGOur energetic leaders are skilled in game leadership, arts & crafts,sports, and other age appropriate activities. Our experienced staffis composed of school teachers, college students in education orcollege students with varied backgrounds. Community play-ground staff is supervised by a Community Playground Specialist,and our Playground Coordinator.

AGE/PROGRAMParticipants MUST meet the age and grade requirement on/or before the first day of the session they wish to enroll in. The Department reserves the right to drop any child from the programif they do not meet the age or grade requirement.

SELF CAREParticipants must be able to provide self-care in a group setting(able to follow the group, able to use the restroom facilities unas-sisted, able to wash hands without assistance and able to controltheir behavior while participating in all activities). The programstaff does NOT provide one on one care.

MEDICATIONSPlayground staff members are not allowed to provide medicationsfor any participant. If your child needs assistance during the day,you will need to make arrangements to provide assistance.

ATTENDANCEParticipants are welcome to attend the program on the days mostconvenient for them during the session(s) they are enrolled in.Each child must be checked-in upon arrival and checked-out ondeparture with the designated staff member. For safety reasons,participants will not be allowed to leave the Hickory Grove site ontheir own without written consent from their parent or legalguardian.

ARRIVAL/PICKUPParticipants who are not registered for “Early Bird” and aredropped off early before the Community Playground designatedarrival time risk the possibility of being removed from the program. This is a safety issue. There are No Refunds to those participants dropped from the program for ignoring the desig-nated arrival times.

Participants who are registered for “Extended Day” and are pickedup late (after Extended Day designated pickup times) will becharged a $10 per each 15 minutes their child remains at HickoryGrove. Late pickups detain our staff from other programs. If participants are picked up late more than twice, they could bedropped from the program. This is a safety issue.There are No Refunds to those participants dropped from the pro-gram for ignoring the designated pickup times.

THIS IS NOT A LICENSED DAY CARE PROGRAM. The purposeis to provide a variety of activities on a daily basis.

Playground Junior

Ages 5-6 Must have completed 5K

There are three, three - week sessions available. During eachsession your child will be able to attend each day Mondaythrough Friday. The program also offers 3 different options:

In order to register for Early Bird or Extended Day, Play-ground Junior participants must be registered for thesame session of Playground Junior.

This summer make sure to have your 5-6 year old join us atPlayground Junior. Here your child can expect to have fun,learn new things and make new friends at our safe, structuredall-day playground. All participants must be able to self care ingroup settings. Each three week session fee includes 1 or 2field trip/s.

Children must bring a lunch, snack, water bottle, and nap blan-ket. Registrants will receive more program details before theprogram start date. Department policies for this program deal-ing with self care, medications, and arrival and pick up arelisted on the Community Playground description page 2.

Ages 6-21

This is a half-day program serving disabled youth. Spe-cialists, trained/certified in Exceptional Education, willlead activities. Parents of children with disabilities inter-ested in participating, or volunteers interested in helping,should contact the Parks & Recreation Office at (262)797-2443 for pre-registration or volunteer information.Volunteer applications are available on the City website:www.newberlin.org

WEB REGISTRATION HELPFUL HINTSIf you don’t already know your LOGIN ID and ACCOUNTPIN, you need to contact the Parks & Recreation Depart-ment at (262) 797-2443 to get your information. PLEASEBE AWARE THAT THE COMPANY THAT PROVIDES THE INTERNET REGISTRATION FOR US COLLECTS A NON-REFUNDABLE CONVENIENCE FEE ON EACH REGISTRATION.

The City of New Berlin online services are provided for theconvenience of our Parks & Recreation Department cus-tomers. Customers that make use of our online services arecharged a modest transaction fee, which is used directly tocover the cost to the City of providing the service. This serviceis offered through a contracted vendor. The internal offeringof this service is not possible due to limitations in staff, techni-cal resources and budget constraints. The convenience fee isonly charged to those people who feel it worthwhile and utilize the system, while not impacting all taxpayers of NewBerlin.

• “My Basket” lets you login and register immediately.• “My Account” allows you to login and view your history. • “Help” gets you in touch with frequently asked questionsand answers.

STEP 2: the Programs pageUse this page to find a course by course number, name, ageor activity.

STEP 3: Search ResultsNow you can make some choices on days, times, etc.

• Class Numbers are displayed under the “Class” heading.• Details on a specific course can be viewed by clicking theCLASS NUMBER or the DETAILS button.

• ADD is found to the right of each course that is availablefor internet registration. ADD allows you to login andregister for that course.

NOTE: If a course does not have an “ADD” button, it maybe that class is full, has started already, or is not yet openfor internet registration.

STEP 5: My BasketFinal registrations are made here. Who is taking whatcourse?

• Select a Client even if you are the only member of yourfamily, you must select the correct name from the “selecta client” pulldown.

• Go to checkout once your information is correct.

Note: Your registrations are only confirmed upon receiptof payment. To ensure that you get the course(s) that youwant, complete your registrations with the “Go to Check-out” button.

STEP 6: the Checkout• Activity Basket shows your pending registrations.• Basket Charges is the total amount to be charged to yourcredit card.

• Payment from Credit Card - enter your: Credit Card Type (Master Card or Visa) information• Apply Payment to complete the transaction and ensureyour registration.

Note: Your credit card information is always secure. Pleaseremember to keep a copy of your “Checkout Success” pageas a receipt.

STEP 7: Checkout Success!• After clicking the “Apply Payment” button, you should re-ceive a confirmation that your registration(s) were successful. Print a copy of that page as it has your registration number for future reference. You will notreceive a receipt through the mail for online registrations.

STEP 4: Login IDYour information is safe on our secure server. You can loginby clicking the “My Basket” tab at any time.

• Internet Login ID is your client number.• Account PIN is your family’s Personal Information Num-ber.

• FORGOT MY LOGIN link is found to the right, and is whereyou can ask to send your Login and PIN to you by email.
