Alumni Rock out at the First Annual “Beaverfest”

The Alumni Association takes pART in the Annual “ART in the PARK”

The St. Clair College Alumni Association was thrilled to be a sponsor at the first annual 2011 Beaverfest. The St. Clair Alumni Association alongside the Student Representative Council (SRC), and St. Clair College itself were the hit of the event! With St. Clair’s “Live like a Rockstar” contest, one lucky person won a trip for them and four friends to “live like Rockstars”, with a limo ride to a concert of their choice this summer, a spa and dinner package, and tons of college Swag! Other prizes that were given out that weekend were 2- IPad2’s and a Blackberry Playbook! Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone that stopped by our “Rockin” booth.

This year was the second year the Alumni Association participated in Windsor’s annual Art in the Park held at Willistead Park. This year the event was “hot” in more ways than one. With over 23,000 guests that walked through the historical grounds which was filled with

275 vendors on a beautiful Windsor weekend! Vendors included a Kids Zone, great food, musical talent and of course your very own St. Clair Alumni Association. If you missed out this year, be sure to check out the 2012 “Art in the Park” next summer!

St. Clair Alumni Association Presents “Sum41”

New Career Choices at St. Clair College

New Programs Offer More Career OpportunitiesIn an effort to meet the growing needs of the economy and address new and emerging careers in business and industry, the College has been researching and developing a wide range of new programs to launch within the next several years. Here’s just a sample of the programs being launched this fall/winter and in September 2011!

Hello to the graduates of the nursing class of 1991!Well, it has been 20 years since we first took that leap into the working world and were scared out of our minds. My how time has gone by.Colleen Craven, Todd Pidgeon and myself, Kim Marlatt (Skipper) are in the process of planning a 20 year reunion. The hardest part has been contacting people. At this time, we are trying to get a feel for how many people are interested in attending along with their significant others. We are planning a dinner and dance with lots of catching up since we have never had a reunion. We are asking everyone to please e-mail one of us so we can have a better idea of the numbers. There will be a lot more information to come once we have heard from you.Thank you and hope to see you soon.

Do you want to catch up with your classmates? Call the Alumni office at 519 972-4567 and let us help.

St. Clair College recently conferred an Honorary Diploma in Music Theatre – Performing Arts to Rosalie Trombley during the June, 2011 Convocation exercises.

“If someone were to write the book on the music industry in the Windsor- Detroit area through late 60’s to the mid 80’s, you would find the name and influence of Rosalie Trombley on many of the pages,” said Dr. John Strasser, St. Clair College President.

The college also hosted a Tribute Dinner for Rosalie hosted by the legendary Tony Orlando on Tuesday, June 14th at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts, to establish a scholarship in her name for the students in Music Theatre - Performing Arts.

Saints Unveil New BusSt. Clair College was proud to unveil its new “Saints” bus at the college. The bus was preparing to depart for Fanshawe College with the Saint’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams for their regular season openers.

In partnership with Badder Bus Service, one of Badder’s buses has been wrapped with the Saint’s Logo, pictures of several St. Clair student athletes, and the St. Clair web site. The bus will be primarily used by all of the Saints Varsity teams throughout Ontario and the United States. The bus will be also be used by other college departments for field trips and other St. Clair College functions. Badder Bus Service will be using the bus year round for other charter groups and rentals as well.

“Our student athletes and coaches are very

excited to be riding on this bus. We firmly believe in treating our student athletes in a first class manner and this is a huge step in doing that to help raise the profile of St. Clair College Saints Athletics,” stated Athletic Coordinator Jay Shewfelt.

“Not only does this bus help promote our varsity programs throughout Ontario but it is a great tool to promote and market St. Clair College. We are very proud to have access to this bus and are thankful for Badder Bus Service’s support in making this happen,” stated St. Clair College President, Dr. John Strasser.

Douglas Badder, Secretary and Treasurer for Badder Bus Service Limited, is very excited about this new partnership with St. Clair College. “Badder Bus Service has been happy to work

with St. Clair College to get their athletes to their sporting events in a safe efficient manner for the last four years. At Johnson Inc. we are pleased to announce an exciting new development! As our company has grown, we have continuously looked at how we can improve our products and services. We have also looked at how we are positioned in the Canadian marketplace. As a result of these reviews, we have been taking a close look at our corporate look and we have developed a new Johnson logo.

So, what will this mean to you?

It means business as usual. How we do our business or deliver the excellent customer service that St. Clair College Alumni Association members have come to know and appreciate will remain unchanged. We simply have a new look. We believe that our new logo captures how we are a company that continues to move its business forward to provide outstanding customer service. While our logo is changing, everything else is staying the same. We are still the same great company dedicated to providing the best in service and benefits.

With the launch of our new logo, Johnson will begin transitioning to our new look. Our buildings will have our new logo strategically placed so that people can easily recognize the Johnson business. Over time our policyholders will begin receiving materials with our new logo. Policy documents, letters, promotional materials, and our website will also be updated with our new look. As we are an environmentally conscious company, we will continue to use our existing stock of materials and replace them with the new look upon depletion. As a result, there will be a transition period from the current logo to the new logo in the marketplace as this process moves forward.

This change is a milestone for our company and is one that we are very excited about. For more information on Johnson Inc. please visit www.johnson.ca.

Mary Jo Haddad graduated from the Nursing Program at St. Clair College in 1976 and was a recipient of the Alumni of Distinction and the Premier’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2004.

As the President and CEO of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, she’s been front and centre in efforts to improve the health of children in Canada.

Mary Jo’s leadership in building a system of pediatric care in the Province of Ontario was cited as she received the Order of Canada.

Her membership in the Order of Canada was announced last year but the formal ceremony took place on May 27th, 2011, at the Governor General’s residence, Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Congratulations Mary Jo from the staff, Alumni, and friends at St. Clair College!
