compensated for a large water service that will require an excavation on the water maintee and at the street line (including sheathed and shored, temporarily connected to thebypass system and then full restored).

A3. As per SP1, temporary service connections shall include the cost of excavation. Noadditional information will be provided at this time.

Q4. Section 4A. 10. SP1 states that available water card record information has beencompiled to identify water service information for properties fronting the Work. Theavailable water service information is presented in the Contract Documents but may notinclude all water services, and may not be accurate. The Contractor shall investigate thelocation and size of all existing water services and ensure that the temporary watersupply system provides a temporary service for all existing services with adequatesupply. Without accurate information the contractor will not be able to determine the sizeor location of each water service. This information is required to determine where theproper connection to the property is to be made. Could further information be providedon the water services that are missing in order to insure all buildings received the properbypass connection?

A4. No further information will be provided at this time.

Q5. According to Section 4A.1 1 .SP2 the contract states that where liner deficiencies, obstructed water services, or improperly drilled water services have been identified, theContractor shall excavate, cut out the section of impacted pipe, and replace with a fillerpiece and couplings. The Contractor shall then conduct and submit an additional V3CCfl/ inspection for review. All costs associated with this Work shall be borne by theContractor. To provide this V3, access pits will need to remain open for several weeks, delaying the restoration from occurring. In addition, certain scenarios may occur wherethe watermain will be live, therefore requiring an additional water shutdown to occur. Willthe City except alternative methods that can be used in order confirm the work has beencompleted in order to expedite the work and prevent additional water oHs fromoccurring?

A5. The City, in its sole discretion, may accept on a case-by-case basis alternative evidencein lieu of a repeated V3 inspection.

Q6. According to Section 4A.13, SP4, it states that limit valves are valves at the boundary ofa refined watermain. Limit valves will be closed and live on one side during the refiningprocess. The Contractor shall replace any limit valves found to be non-operational ordefective. Could the City provide a list of all valves that are required for replacement?(lead joint valves, valves inside chambers)?

A6. If valves are found to be non-operational or defective during construction then they are tobe replaced. No list of valves will be provided at this time. The Contractor shall installnew valves on the watermain as shown on the Contract Drawings.

Q7. In Section 4A.20, SP-1 1, critical valves, it states that Lesmill York Mills Road is apressure district boundary. Could the City please provide more information (such asoperating pressure on either side of the valve) on the pressure district boundary as thisinformation is important to designing a temporary watermain bypass.

A7. The area to be lined (Lesmill Rd and Duncan Mill Rd) falls within PD4. The 300watermain on York Mills Rd operates within the lower pressure district PD3E. Thehydrants on York Mills Rd therefore cannot be used to supply the temporary bypasssystem. The nearest potential supply hydrant operating within P04 is HY4025968 at thenorthwest corner of Don Mills Rd and York Mills Rd. Pressure District Boundary valveWV4026981 on York Mills Rd must remain closed.

Q8. According to the As Build Records section, a GPS location is required for each hydrant, valve, bend and fitting. Could the City please clarify if this includes each main stop (newand existing)? In addition, would the City consider providing a pay item for each Recordof Alternation created?

A8. Yes, locations of new and existing main stops are required. Records of Alteration arepart of the As-Built Records; no separate payment shall be made.
