General concepts and techniques of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry including gene cloning, Protein purification (Different chromatography techniques, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot), Enzyme Kinetics and Protein Structure exercises (Pymol, Crystallization) are discussed in BIOL 4385 Biochemistry Lab.

Teaching and mentoring students on a weekly basis through lecture and demonstration in Lab.

Experimental DNA/RNA: Cloning, Sequencing, qPCR, RT-PCR, Transformation, and Transduction, construction of cDNA/genomic DNA library, Chemical mutagen or Transposon mediated mutagenesis, Site-directed mutagenesis. Protein: 1D/2D SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, Protein expression and purification, preparation of membranes (inner and outer membrane fractions of gram-negative bacteria), Gel Filtration, Protein-protein interactions (IP, Co-IP, two-hybrid assays), Enzyme assays, Protein-DNA interaction (EMSA and DNAse footprinting). Lipids: Phospholipid extraction, 1D/2D Separation of lipid species (TLC), Quantification (Autoradiography).

Microscopy: Confocal microscopy, Differential Interference Contrast microscopy, Fluorescent Microscopy.

B. Computational Bioinformatics: Proficient in basic Bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, Clustal W, Pymol.
