Suggested Placement of Suggested Placement of WCL Boxes/LinksWCL Boxes/Links
The following screens are meant to illustrate where WCL search boxes currently reside on operational library pages, and imagine where the search boxes would be most effective on UC-wide pages.
University of Washington
Standard WCL search Box
The Communication Team is suggesting that every campus feature this box on any Library web page entry point (i.e. any page that is considered a primary entry specific to the system or a library)
Peninsula Library System in California: front page
Note small, easy to place search box
An option for secondary pages
UC Davis example
Basic search pageThis is where the campus-specific URL will take you
Ohio State
Note how OSU features both the WCL box and links to their primary catalog
UC Berkeley
Suggest placing the UCB search box here
It is supported by the other catalogs listed above (may want to remove WCL from list)
UC Davis
Great spot for UCD box
UC Irvine
Remove free resources and place the WCL box here
UCLA
Feature WCL instead of other announcements
UC Merced
Use the OSU model, WCL on top, then the UCM box
UC Riverside
Move featured services down, quick search down, place WCL above UCR’s catalog. Like the OSU model
UC San Diego
Move catalog and e-resources to the right. Remove beyond UCSD.
Place WCL to the far left.
UCSF
Move Galen down and place the WCL search box above
UC Santa Barbara
Replace off-campus login with WCL box
place the proxy info immediately below.
UC Santa Cruz
Possible spot, no absolutely necessary search info in this area
Renovation news could be moved closer to the giving section.
CDL
Not convinced this is the best location for the system-wide access point. But if not here, where do we show off the ten-campus box?
