Dear Friends and Family,

2013 has been a most joyous 20th anniversary year for Angel City Chorale. At our spring concert and reunion we were thrilled to welcome back many of the incredible folk who built ACC into the musical community it is today. We partnered our all-time favorite hits with the west coast premiere of Christopher Tin’s Grammy Award-winning song cycle, Calling All Dawns.

Our upcoming projects give us continuing reasons to be “Joyful, Joyful.” Christopher Tin has invited us to sing on his follow-up CD, The Drop that Contained the Sea, joining great artists from around the world -- including London’s Royal Philhar-monic Orchestra, The Anonymous Four, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares, and more. Many ACC members will travel to New York in April to sing the premiere performance at Carnegie Hall! Then in June we will give Drop its west coast premiere at our spring concert, as we explore the elements “Earth, Tin, and Fire.”

I count ACC’s blessings daily. I am thankful for our volunteers and Guardian Angels, who through their generosity make it possible for us to sing and grow. I am grateful to our board president, Frances James, who has blessed us with her ability to lead with heart, soul, and dignity. As she steps down from her role as board chair, she leaves us a stronger, more organized entity. I am thrilled she will continue to lead us in giving back to our city as our Tour of Hope coordinator. And I am also thank-ful you are here with us tonight for our 20th Annual Holiday Concert and Sing-Along. I hope you will consider joining our Guardian Angels to help us create twenty more years of music and community.

Angel City Chorale is committed to musical excellence and to giving back to our community. Our mission statement, “Building Community One Song at a Time,” embodies our approach of

blending the power of music to lift the human spirit with tangible support to our outreach partners.

This December will be the seventeenth production of our flagship program, the Holiday Tour of Hope. Over the years we have visited over 35 organizations in Los Angeles including soup kitchens, havens for the homeless, nursing homes, hospitals, Juvenile Hall, and sober living and domestic violence support facilities. In addition to sharing our holiday concert repertoire, we donate personal items, supplies, and toys to these organizations.

A unique strength of Angel City Chorale is our continuing commitment to partner and connect with other non-profit organizations that are helping people in our community from all walks of life.

When someone dies…turn to OUR HOUSE Grief Support Centerfor hope and healing

Grief is a natural reaction after the death of someone close. OUR HOUSE

Grief Support Center recognizes that people are often not prepared for the

intensity and duration of the grief process. OUR HOUSE was founded in

1993 on the premise that grievers need understanding, support, and

connection. Each year, OUR HOUSE helps thousands of grieving children,

teens, and adults. The groups are led by highly trained volunteers, are age-

and relationship- speci�c, and are o�ered in both English and Spanish.

In addition to in-house support groups held at their West Los Angeles and

Woodland Hills centers, OUR HOUSE conducts groups in over 50 schools

serving children in low-income, underserved areas of Los Angeles County.

OUR HOUSE also o�ers grief education programs for medical and mental

health professionals, clergy, and educators and is part of the curricula for

students at both USC’s Keck and UCLA’s David Ge�en Schools of Medicine.
