Online Learning
• Refers to the electronic access of asynchronous
training, such as a slide show presentation, an audio or
video presentation, a web-based exam, or a document
(e.g., a Standard Operating Procedure manual).
AICC
•Aviation Industry CBT Consortium
•Uses HTTP (HCAP) to communicate back and forth
between Plateau & Content Server
•We are provided with a link to where the content resides
on the content server.
•Requires 4 text files:
– .crs = Course
– .cst = Course Structure
– .des = Description
– .au = Assignable Unit

SCORM
•Shareable Content Object Reference Model
•Created by DOD
•Version 1.2 utilized AICC API calls
•Communicates via standard API that introduces cross-
domain constraints
• Cross-domain Applet
• Reverse Proxy
•We support SCORM 1.2 and 2004 (2nd & 4th Edition)
•Uses Single Manifest XML file
AICC Wrapper
•Allows you to create a content object in the system to
“wrap” a document and require users to read and accept or
reject.
•Provided as a courtesy to our customers

Content Objects
•Users can launch content objects from an online or a
blended item.
•Specifies the location and the launch method within LMS.
Managing Online Content
• Content objects are the building blocks of an online
item. A content object is a pointer to a single, launchable
file.

•Build online content packages in tool of choice. Publish in preferred standard (AICC, SCORM)
•Test the content in the appropriate test suite
•Place on server
Build Content Object
•Add new content objects and packages if desired
•Wrap any companion documents with the AICC wrapper
•Build any associated exam
Add to Curriculum
•Place one or more items into a curriculum
•Configure and test required by dates
Build Item
•Create the item record and add the appropriate content objects, exams, etc
•Test the completion/tracking of the content
•Build out all other item details including catalog and subject area assignment
Assign
•Build an assignment profile that matches the user population and assign the curriculum to the target audience
•Propagate the assignment profile
Monitor
•Run learning needs, online item status, and learning history reports to monitor progress
•The curriculum item details report is key to monitoring compliance with the curriculum assignment/completions
