EntrepreneurialSpiritSetsveryhighstandardsforselfandbusinessanddemonstratesstrongleadershipskillsandanunflinchingdesireanddeterminationtobesuccessful.Entrepreneurdemonstratesperseveranceinthefaceofadversityandovercomingobstacles.Hasundergonesignificantdisappointmentsandlearnedfromthoseexperiences.Whilehe/shereliesontrustedindividualsandtheteam,alsoshowscapacitytobeanindependentthinkerandtotakeonandmanagerisksinthefaceofuncertainty.AsfoundingpartnerandManagingDirectorofSHIELDConsultantsLtd,Johnisactuallyinhissecondcareer.HavinghadjoinedtheArmedForcesofMaltain1986asanofficercadetaged20,soldieringwashisfirstloveandpassion.Johnservedwithcommitment,loyaltyanddedicationcoupledwithadrivetowardsimprovement,atbothpersonalaswellasinstitutionallevels.BeingoneofaveryselectfewofficerstohaveservedtheAFMwhilstprovidingassistancetotheMaltaPoliceForce,John’snaturalinclinationtowardsthesecuritydomainquicklybecameapparent.In1998JohnbecamethefirstMalteseofficerinagenerationtograduatefromtheworldrenownedRoyalMilitaryAcademy,Sandhurst,UnitedKingdom.ThatwasquicklyfollowedupwithfurthertrainingattheprestigiousInfantrySchoolinFortBenning,Georgia,USAandaveritablestreamoftraininginspecialistinternationalmilitaryandpoliceschoolsthroughouthismilitarycareer.In1992,CaptainSchembribecamethefoundingOfficerCommandingofthe“C”-Company,theAFM’sspecialistinterventionunit,whichhedulybegantobuildup.In1994JohnbecameAide-de-CamptoH.E.Dr.UgoMifsudBonnici,PresidentofMalta,servinginthepostuntil1998.In1999,MajorSchembrire-joinedthe1Regiment,AFM,asDeputyCommandingOfficeranddulyqualifiedasaHostageNegotiatorfromPeelCentre,LondonMetropolitanPolice.HeservedastheAFM’sOfficerinChargeofRefugees.In2001JohnreadforamasterofScienceinSecurityandRiskManagementattheUniversityofLeicester,UK,whichdegreeheobtained

FinancialPerformanceThisisreflectedinthestrengthoftheorganisation’sfinancialperformance.If applicable; the track record in raising finance; the quality of pastinvestments;ifpublic,marketperformanceoverthepastthreeyears;andthestrategiesinplaceforlongtermsustainability.SomewhatironicallyforanOperationalRiskManagementCompany,SHIELDwas,quiteliterallyfoundedoncalculatedrisk.Whenthefoundingpartnersenvisionedsettingupasecurityconsultancycompanyin1999,thecorebelieflayinarealizationthatMaltawouldjointheEUand,asaconsequence,thestandardsforriskmanagementandcompliancewouldnaturallyhavetoriseasaconsequence.WithoutresortingtocapitalfundingasaStart-up,SHIELDhasbeengraduallybuilt-uponthebasisoforganicgrowth.Asbusinesscamein,thefundswerere-investedintotheCompanyastheshareholderswillinglyandpurposelytookalongertermviewtowardstheinvestment.

Major John Schembri served in the Armed Forces of Malta with me as a brother officer, who led from the front with great inspiration and selfless
