Overall content In groups, the students compile an independent, problem-oriented project within the overall goal description for the subject module project. The content of the project work must include a self-selected social scientific issue, illuminated from a perspective inspired by the field ‘International Politics’ and/or ‘International Political Economy’. The project work concludes with the compilation of a written project report.

Teaching and working methods

The primary teaching form consists of project guidance, in which the individual project group meets with the assigned supervisor according to individual agreement, together with guidance in clusters.

Form of examination Project examination The project is conducted in groups of 2-5 students, cf. however the relevant Bachelor curriculum. The project work is assessed by an oral examination.

In the examination of groups of three or more students, the examiner may permit a short break to be held during the process.

The examination is a group examination for the members of the project group, and is based on the students’ project report. The examination takes the form of a conversation between the students, the examiner and the moderator.

At the examination, each group member is given a maximum of three minutes to expound a point the group member feels is relevant to the further dialogue during the examination. The project group members jointly co-ordinate and plan the introductory presentations.

At the project examination, the literature to be included in the examination basis must be listed in a bibliography submitted together with the project report.

The literature for the project is selected by the students in the group, in collaboration with their supervisor. Students are examined on the basis of the entire project report, in such a way as to allow for individual assessment.

For groups of two students, the maximum size of the assignment is 84,000 characters, including spaces. For groups of three students, the maximum size of the assignment is 108,000 characters, including spaces.

For groups of four students, the maximum size of the assignment is 132,000 characters, including spaces.

For groups of five students, the maximum size of the assignment is 156,000 characters, including spaces.

The size specifications include the cover, table of contents, bibliography, figures and other illustrations, but exclude any

appendices. Papers that fail to meet the size specifications will be refused assessment, and one examination attempt will be deemed to have been used up.

Using the project report as a basis for the examination means that questions may be posed not only on the whole project report, but also within the academic field covered by the project module.

An individual assessment is undertaken of each student’s performance. The assessment consists of a combined assessment of the project report and the oral presentation.

Re-examination Re-examination takes the same form as the ordinary examination. Preconditions for being allowed to take the examination

Overall content A review of the literature is compiled on the basis of the literature of

subject module course 3 and/or subject module course 4, together with literature selected by the students in collaboration with their supervisor. The conclusions of this task form the basis for an independent, interdisciplinary mini-project. The content of the mini-project must cover a social scientific issue selected by the group, from a perspective inspired by the fields ‘EU Institutions and Governance’ and/or ‘Global Sociology’. The mini-project work concludes with the compilation of a written project report.

Teaching and working methods

The primary teaching form consists of project guidance, in which the individual project group meets with the assigned supervisor according to individual agreement, together with guidance in clusters.

The students are provided with guidance in connection with both the review of the literature and the mini-project.

Form of examination Project examination Both the literature review and the mini-project are compiled in groups of 2-5 students, cf. however the relevant Bachelor programme curriculum. Both parts are assessed in a single oral examination.

In the examination of groups of three or more students, the examiner may permit a short break to be held during the process.

The examination takes the form of a group examination for the members of the project group. The examination is based on both the literature review and the project report that the students have

compiled. The examination takes the form of a conversation between the students, the examiner and the moderator.

At the examination, each group member is given a maximum of three minutes to expound a point the group member feels is relevant to the further dialogue during the examination. The project group members jointly co-ordinate and plan the introductory presentations. The presentation must be based on the relationship between the literature review and the project.

The literature for both the literature review and the project is selected by the students in the group, in collaboration with their supervisor. The literature to be included in the examination basis must be listed in a bibliography submitted together with the project report.

The literature review must be a maximum of 24,000 characters in all. For groups of two students, the maximum size of the mini-project is 48,000 characters, including spaces. For groups of three students, the maximum size of the mini-project is 60,000 characters, including spaces. For groups of four students, the maximum size of the mini-project is 72,000 characters, including spaces. For groups of five students, the maximum size of the mini-project is 84,000 characters, including spaces. The size specifications include the cover, table of contents, bibliography, figures and other illustrations, but exclude any appendices. Papers that fail to meet the size specifications will be refused assessment, and one examination attempt will be deemed to have been used up.

If the literature review or the mini-project deviates from the above-specified number of characters, it will be refused assessment, which means that the student(s) cannot participate in the examination, and one examination attempt will be deemed to have been used up.

Both the literature review and the project form the basis for the oral examination. The students are examined on the basis of the literature review and project in such a way as to allow for individual assessment.

As the examination is based on both the literature review and the

Page 13: SUBJECT MODULE DESCRIPTION for - ruc.dk · The subject module is presented in English. Unless otherwise specified, the examination language is the same as the teaching language. Competency

project report, questions may be asked not just on the basis of the two written works, but also within the professional field of the project module.

An individual assessment is undertaken of each student’s performance. The grade awarded is based on a combined assessment of the two written works and the oral examination.

Re-examination In the case of re-examination both the project and the literature review may be revised, and both must be re-submitted.

Preconditions for being allowed to take the examination

The literature review must be submitted in order for the students to be permitted to submit the mini-project and participate in the oral examination.
