Adaptation of a Heritage Place The winner of this category was 201 Railway Road, Subiaco, designed by MSG Architects. The combined former store and residence have been retained and sensitively adapted to accommodate the owners’ traditional Chinese medicine practice. In brief, the judges described this project as ‘a sensitive adaptation of a corner store and residence’. New Buildings in Heritage Streetscapes A commendation in this category was awarded to 27 Hopetoun Terrace, Shenton Park, which refects the owners’ appreciation of the original streetscape context of the property and the traditional character of this part of Shenton Park. The residence combines modern materials with traditional details, and the judges described this project as ‘a good neighbour to its context’. The winner of this category was 88 Heytesbury Road, Subiaco, which was designed by Luigi Rosselli Architects. The project demonstrates the successful management of scale, massing and materials to allow a larger, modern residential building to sit respectfully within a traditional streetscape. In brief, the judges described this project as ‘a modern interpretation of the traditional streetscape.’ To see the award-winning entries, visit www.subiaco.wa.gov.au/heritageawards COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANTS Do you have an amazing idea which promotes a sense of belonging to the Subiaco community?
