What do you need to do each week/day?

❑Homework (30 mins per class)

❑Extra study (1 hour per class?)

❑Chores

❑Music practice

❑Sports practice

Make sure your time table is reasonable for you. No one can work every hour of the day. You need time to relax and switch off.

Taking notes…Things you could do before the class:

❑Be prepared to write down notes (did you know that you learn a lot more physically writing than you do typing?)❑Go over last lessons notes/chapter in the textbook❑Read the textbook pages and pick out any keywords/concepts you need to pay attention to in class. Be ready to

ask about it when it comes up in the lesson

Things you can do during the lesson❑Highlight key terms❑Draw diagrams to help you remember❑Write any questions you have❑Ask the teacher to pause, if you need to take a note of something

Things you can do after class❑Consolidate your notes

❑ Summarise the whole lesson in less than three sentences❑ Write the definition of key words❑ Draw any diagrams/practicals you need to remember❑ Rewrite the content as a question

❑Complete homework about halfway between each lesson (not last minute!). Make a note of the questions you struggled with and go over that section again. If you are still confused, email the teacher and ask to go over it in the next lesson.

❑File your notes somewhere easy to find❑Write your own exam questions to answer ❑A few weeks after the lesson, read over your notes again. Answer some questions you wrote.
