Study Progress Guide

英語実習 a を受講している皆さんへ英語実習 a 及び英語実習 d/f（2 年次配当科目）では、オーラル・コミュニケーション（リスニング、スピーキング、話し言葉）を中心に学びます。英語を学ぶ上で重要なスキルである効果的な学習方法や学習習慣を身につけることを、もう一つの目標とします。そのために、教科書に加えて、この「Study Progress Guide ＝ 学習進歩表」を使います。

学習進歩表は 3 つの部分からなっています。

1. 語学学習において、目標を立てたり、学習に振り返ったりすることはとても大切です。そのため、学期の始めと、中間と、最後にそのような機会を設けています。ページ２～４をご参照ください。

2. 今日の授業で何を学んだんだろう、と思ったことはありませんか。英語実習 a では、各ユニットの学習ポイントが明確になるように、"Can do statements" を作成しました。ユニット終了後、"Can do statements" を使って、自己評価を行ってください。（6 ～ 11 ページをご参照ください。）そして、そのユニットの苦手な部分を特定できたら、期末試験に向けて復習をしましょう。勉強方法については、5 ページの Activity Bank を参考にしてください。

3. 英語力を高めるには練習が必要ですね。ユニットごとに課題を設定していますので、宿題としてやってください。評価対象にもなっていますので、忘れずに！（評価基準について 13 ページをご参照ください。）この宿題のもう一つの狙いは、皆さんに様々な練習方法を体験してもらうことです。どんな課題があなたにとって楽しかったのか、効果的だったのか…。毎回振り返って考えてもらいたいですので、意見を書くスペース（14 ページ）を設けています。

The ABCD of goals: When it comes to deciding your English study

goals, you need to be careful. Coming up with “bad” English goals

can actually have a negative effect on your study. Here are some

hints for creating “good” English goals.

Good goals should be

2017 Oral Communication a (英語実習a)

Course Aim: The aim of this course is to practice your oral communication skills, as well as to become more conscious about

spoken English in general. Through this course I hope you will become more confident at speaking in English and more aware

about how to communicate effectively in English. Understanding how to be a better learner is also a key part of this course.

Course Format: In general, we will cover one unit of the textbook over 2 weeks. The textbook is: Impact Conversation 1 by

Kristen Sullivan and Todd Beuckens (Pearson Education Asia Limited 2009).

Preparation & Revision: Before we start a new unit, please look through the “can do statements” for that unit in the Study

Progress Guide. After each unit you will have a Study Progress Guide homework activity to complete. In addition to this, you

should also revise the key points and vocabulary and try the language awareness questions. This is important for getting a good

score on the unit tests, as well as for improving your general English ability.

Assessment:

Class Participation & Performance – 10%

Study Progress Guide Homework – 20%

Unit Tests (Vocabulary) – 25% (5 tests x 5 points each)

Speaking Test – 15%

End of Semester Exam – 30%
