Background
Ave
age wate
consumption in Ridge Camp area PT Freeport Indonesia is currently above
800 liter per day per capita well above the normal standards which is 300 Liter per day per
capita. Load of waste water in Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) over of its hydraulic capacity.
In the other hand, water supply is declining precipitously when rainfall decreases.
Objective
Survey and study of water consumption in the Ridge Camp area of PT. Freeport Indonesia
for the three main sub-areas:
- domestic (Barrack),
- commercial (shopping HERO & Coff ee Shop KOKARFI), and
- industrial (office, shop & messhall)to investigate and calculate water consumption per capita, determine the rate of water
losses in the distribution units and gives appropriate and practical recommendations for
water savings according to standard that should be, and alternative solution in case of
decreasing the water supply in dry season
Scope
Water from the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) supplies for individual purposes at barrack
area, commercial area & industrial area through underground piping. The study is expected
show appropriate and practical recommendations for water savings according to the
conditions, infrastructure and existing resources.

Real Demand Survey
Main line activity. Its real demand study to identif y efficient volume of
water consumption and factors aff ecting demand pattern. Survey will be
conducted by interviewing, observation and collecting data relating water
consumption both in quantity and pattern/allotment. Approachment Framework of study
display in Figure 3
Secondary/primary data requirement for Priority Number two. Its optional
case ad just requirement for f urther analysis especially water losses base
study and controlling. The following is a methodology that can be applied
after obtaining a blue print of water supply system. Technical data such as map the situation and
complete scheme with the specifications of pipes, pumps, WTP, etc. and tests/measurement
used to determine the steps that may be performed according to the conditions, infrastructure
and existing resources as shown in Figure 2 and Approachment Famework of study in
APPENDIX1.
Activity for Priority Number three called source of water Reliability Study
and Water Balance Analysis also optional activity. Topographic map,
hydrological and geo-hydrological data of the location (site) include the
watershed used to determine the steps that may be performed according to the conditions,
infrastructure and existing resources as shown in Approachment Framework of study in
APPENDIX 2. Reliability of quality, quantity and continuity analysis will be conducted to
determine the capacity of production and treatments. Water balance analysis will be conducted
to determine the possibility of excess water with a dependable flow of watershed for surface
water sources and the saf e yield for groundwater sources.
