2. How to access Moodle?

After successfully logging in using the User ID and password sent to you by your School

Administrator, you will see the “Moodle” in the menu. Clicking on it you will see the below page

with a button “Go To Moodle”.

Clicking on this button will take you to Moodle without the need to enter the User ID and pwd

again. OpenSIS is integrated to Moodle and uses the single sign-on to authenticate inside the

Moodle.

Moodle is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a

single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalized learning environments.

Moodle is an Open Source Software used my many educational institutions from Kinder Garden

to post graduate by many school districts and universities all over the world.

OpenSIS is a complete Student Management and School Management system. Schools

Admins, Teachers, Students and Parents get access to it.

OpenSIS is primarily used for Student Master and their current academic year enrolled Nilai.

Every Teacher, Admin and Parents get access to it.

OpenSIS and Moodle – How they are integrated:

OpenSIS is seamlessly integrated to Moodle. Here is the bi-directional mapping and ATA is

using Moodle to deploy all the eLearning content like Nilai4 to 7 HW as Quizzes, Mazhalai to

Nilai3 as interactive content, Audio comprehension exercises and also Teachers will access

their Teacher Training content there.

All the users access is created only in OpenSIS and no one get access directly to Moodle.

Moodle access will always work only via OpenSIS single sign-on.

Key fields of OpenSIS/Moodle in relation to ATA.

Users – School Admins, Teachers, Students & Parents. Each type of user get unique role

assigned in OpenSIS.

Schedules – Managed only in OpenSIS via Calendar for the specific schools and it is unique to

the schools

Subjects – ATA Nilai from Mazhalai to Nilai7

OpenSIS Course Periods combines the Teachers, Students & Nilai (subject) for each classroom

of individual Schools. Moodle provision the access based on the Nilai(Subject) assignment from

OpenSIS.

Teachers can access only their students as “participants” in Moodle. Students can access only

their Nilai content in Moodle.

4. How to attempt the quiz as a student every week?

Students can access their courses under the “My Courses”. In this below example, the student

course is Nilai5.

Clicking on “MNTS_N5” will show “25 Topics” which is equal to 25 lessons of ATA Syllabus for

each Nilai. The highlighted example show the Monday/Tuesday HW of the first week of Nilai5.

Tip: To type in Tamil we recommend the URL http://tamil.changathi.com

This link is available in the world wide web without the need for any installed

software or no need to be in gmail input either.

You may type Tamil from your home, work, school and like Library computers. It

will also work in all the tablets in a web browser.

For example to type you will type in English as “vaanginen” For type as “vaanguven”

This shows the example, where the student will type the Tamil typing from

http://tamil.changathi.com and copy and paste into the moodle quiz below.

When the Student want to start the quiz, click on the quiz and then click on “Attempt quiz now”.

This will open the quiz one after the other in each page

When you stop something or closed the browser, you can resume from the last attempt “using

the “Continue the last attempt” button

Once all the questions were answered, you see the status of the questions. Then you have an

option to “Return to attempt” or “Submit all and finish”

Before submission, you will get a reconfirmation popup window like below and choose “Submit

all and finish” to submit the quiz.

After submission, you have an option to review your answers and it automatically instruct

correct and wrong ones. Correct ones will be in Green and wrong ones will be in Red. You could

see both the examples below:

proceed to the next question in the same quiz.

After reviewing your answers, the below screen shows the summary of your attempts and the

grading. The below example shows both 100% and 85% scenario

Note: Students have to repeat these steps for each of the 5 quizzes per week from Nilai 4

to 7
