Thank You, Chancellor Riley

The University of Winnipeg Foundation expresses its deep appreciationto H. Sanford Riley for nine years of service as Chancellor of TheUniversity of Winnipeg. His leadership, vision and energy have hadfar-reaching impact.

Riley served as Chancellor through a period of remarkable growthwhile also serving “double duty,” helping to establish The Universityof Winnipeg Foundation in 2003 and serving as its founding chair, arole in which he continues.

During his time as Chancellor, our University and Foundation launchedthe largest capital campaign in our University’s history with a $70-million goal – an initiative well on its way to successful completion.

Riley’s passion for Canadian history is expressed through the generousdonation made by he and his wife Debbie to establish The H. SanfordRiley Fellowships in Canadian History. A tremendous asset to theUniversity and to the nation, the Fellowships foster dynamic relationsbetween the University and the country’s distinguished historians.

Our community is deeply indebted to Riley for his many volunteerroles. Widely recognized for his outstanding work as Chair of the 1999Pan American Games in Winnipeg, he also served as Chair of theUnited Way Campaign in Winnipeg, theManitoba Sports Federation, and theBusiness Council of Manitoba.

A world-class sailor and formerOlympian, Riley is an enthusiasticgolfer and a Lake of the Woodscottager – a pleasure shared with hiswife Debbie and their three children.

ChancellorH. Sanford Riley
