Our World Phonics Second Edition introduces young learners to the sounds and letters of English and helps them learn and practice sound/spelling relationships in order to develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Sounds and spellings are taught using high-frequency key words. Photographs provide context and convey meaning. The first four pages in each unit focus on a sound and its spelling. Activities help young learners explore how sounds and letters connect. They provide opportunities for listening and repetition, sound discrimination, letter and word recognition, and writing practice. Teacher’s Guide The Our World Phonics with ABC Teacher’s Guide provides everything needed to successfully plan, teach, and supplement lessons, including: • a detailed scope and sequence • complete lesson plans, including Warm Ups, step-by-step lesson instruction, interactive Extend activities, and Wrap Ups • a guide to the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) symbols used in the program • an audio CD for each level of Our World Phonics Second Edition Teacher’s Resource Website The Our World ABC and Our World Phonics resource website provides additional teaching resources, including: • all Student’s Book audio • Flashcards • printable worksheets • printable game components • answer keys • pacing guides Student’s Book Audio Our World ABC and Our World Phonics audio is available on the Student Companion Website. A review game practices all sounds and spellings presented in the unit. A funny, illustrated story reviews the sounds and spellings from the unit in an engaging context. The unit ends with a fun game that continues at the back of the book, where students can also complete a Picture Dictionary with that unit’s words. A chant containing key words from the unit provides opportunities for repetition and reinforcement.
