Core AssessmentsWhy are students so stressed by the new tests?

Change produces anxiety for adults and students.

Children pay attention to messages from adults. Adultsshould explain that students only need to do their best

on the tests and show what they know and can do andwhat areas need additional support.

Children are better prepared for academic challenge and

frustration while enrolled in school, surrounded by caringand competent teachers.

They are less prepared for frustration when theirschooling is done and they cannot find a job or get intocollege.
