Eaglehawk Primary School Uniform We have included our uniform policy this week. We have noticed some students wearing colors other than navy or other Eaglehawk tops. The school works to support families to ensure all students are in uniform as per the policy rationale. Plain round neck windcheaters, polo shirts and track pants can be ordered with no cost. Logo uniform can be subsidised. (limits apply) Please contact the office if we can help. Any uniforms that your child has grown out of may be brought to the office to help another family. School Uniform. Winter Navy short sleeved polo shirt (school logo) Navy windcheater (school logo) – NO hoodies Navy jacket (school logo) Navy Track pants/leggings/pants/shorts – NO stripes, logos or large pockets Navy long sleeved shirt Summer Navy broad brimmed hat (school logo) Dress - school check Navy Navy skorts, shorts, basketball shorts or bike shorts Navy short sleeved polo shirt (school logo) Navy windcheater (school logo) – NO hoodies Navy jacket (school logo) Shoes: Black school shoes/T-bars, Runners Not acceptable: Thongs, slip on, high heel or skate shoes. Last day of term We will celebrate our last day of term with out of uniform (SPORTS theme) and either movie or games. Head Lice Unfortunately after several weeks of being back at school we have had NUMEROUS reports of head lice. Please check your child’s hair regularly and treat it as NITS spread quickly. Due to the long life cycle of lice, we need to be checking and treating often to make sure they are gone. 1 Comb any type of hair conditioner onto dry, brushed (detangled) hair. This stuns the lice and makes it difficult for them to

grip the hair or crawl around (use the cheapest hair conditioner you can find). 2 Now comb sections of the hair with a fine tooth, head lice comb. 3 Wipe the conditioner from the comb onto a paper towel or tissue after each comb through hair. 4 Look on the tissue and comb for lice and eggs. 5 Repeat the combing for every part of the head at least five times. 6 If lice or eggs are found hair should be treated. If this is done at least once a week we will find Head Lice incidents will be come more manageable. If your older ones are showering you can teach the to do it themselves, and a quick comb through at bath time, once a week, has got to be better than treating your child’s hear every night. More information can be found on http://www.health.vic.gov.au/headlice Remember:

Head lice has been around for thousands of years and anyone can get them, including parents and teachers

Using conditioner and comb method each week will help your family control head lice.

Head lice do not carry disease Reports Semester 1 reports will be different! There will be no progression point but we will still have our comments. There will be a personal comment for each student in:

Personal and Social capabilities including a remote learning statement English (Reading and Writing that includes speaking & listening) Mathematics

There will be an overview statement from each specialist area and humanities, outlining the content they covered in term 1 and work sent home during remote learning There will NOT be any dots (progression points) or comparison from last year. Crossing at back gates – Brazier Street Please remind all students that they are to exit the school through the gates and not jump the fence as this is an accident waiting to happen. All students are to cross Brazier Street on the corner near High Street. We have students cutting through the back of KFC and crossing. This is extremely dangerous although students look each way, they are NOT noticing cars reversing from across the road where students are being dropped off. We have had several near misses with families involved informing the school really worried. Prior to KFC being there this was not an issue as students always went to the corner to cross.

Website Our new website is active. Here is the link. Please share it with family and friends. It has a virtual tour of the school and hopefully this week will have student thoughts. http://www.eaglehawkps.vic.edu.au/ Drink Bottles All students are required to have their own drink bottle so they are NOT using drink taps. Prep 2021 If you know of any families with kinder age children, please encourage them to either call or email the school for further infor-mation. The due date for Foundation 2021 enrolments has been extended until 31st July. Library News Book Club Orders from Issue 2 We still have book club waiting to be collected. If you have not received the books you ordered from Book Club Issue 2, can you please ring and leave a message for Kim with the child’s name and the books ordered? Overdue Library Books We still have many overdue Library books and readers that have not come back to school. Can you please have a good hunt around your house and return any overdue Library books and readers to the school ASAP? Kim Delmenico.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open. A new application is being used this year that offers a range of exciting features including: · access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs) · a modern user-friendly interface · rewarding students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved · the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review. The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the im-portance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition, but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 4 September 2020. Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate for more information about the Victorian Prem-iers’ Reading Challenge, visit:www.education.vic.gov.au/prc School Camps Set to Resume School camps can reopen from 11.59pm on 21 June, aligned with the opening of holiday accommodation communal facilities, including shared kitchens and bathrooms. The Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that accommodation providers, including privately operated school camps and out-door education schools and camps operated by individual schools and the Department of Education and Training, can accept school group bookings consistent with typical class/year level sizes and are not bound by public gathering limits. Health and safe-ty precautions will be required. Further advice and health and safety precautions for camp operators and schools will be provided. The precautions will include advice about:

sleeping arrangements hygiene practices and cleaning of facilities physical distancing among adults camp operators undertaking risk assessments and planning the involvement of parent volunteers.

Our 2-6 camps are booked for term 4 week 1. Unfortunately this week, Doxa camps made a decision to cancel all camps for 2020. The school will now need to investigate options for our grades 4-6 camp. School Council Summary Our June School Council meeting was held last Thursday. Items discussed included: Remote Learning/Return to School An update on our return to school grades Prep-3 and 4-6 school. All current hygiene measures are being well supported by all students and families.
