YR 9/10 FOOD TECHNOLOGY. This term Year 9/10 Food Tech are learning about Food Product Development with Mrs Wason. They have been studying about the reasons why new foods are developed including: market concerns, technology, profit, demand and special foods. They have „taste tested‟ some interesting foods including Aloe Vera juice and frozen microwavable chicken fillet burgers and produced meals using a variety of newly developed food products. The frozen chicken burger tasted much better than expected and the Soft Taco Kit Crispy Chicken meal was fantastic. The students discussed their plans to send representatives to the next P&C meeting with suggestions for the canteen (particularly the recommendation to purchase a fruit slinky maker, which is very popular!). The suggested designs for the replacement goal posts were looked at, with students voting for the combination rugby/soccer option. The SRC also plans to run a jelly cup/spider day later in the term when it is warmer, and an icecream stall next term. The SRC held its first meeting for the term on Tuesday with Rhianne Forrest acting as chairperson.

The students discussed their plans to send

representatives to the next P&C meeting with suggestions for the canteen (particularly the

recommendation to purchase a fruit slinky maker,

which is very popular!). The suggested designs for

the replacement goal posts were looked at, with students voting for the combination rugby/soccer

option. The SRC also plans to run a jelly cup/spider day

later in the term when it is warmer, and an icecream stall next term. It was agreed to support Jeans for Genes day

later in the year (October the 7th).

REWARD DAY Reward day for Semester One was held on the last Thursday of

last term. Secondary students watched movies and cooked

morning tea and lunch (the pizzas were yummy!). Primary and

Infants held a daytime Slumber Party, with some colourful pyjamas on display! They watched the Yogi Bear movie in the

morning, complete with cinema food (popcorn, etc), and after

recess they all enjoyed a disco in the Kindergarten room. The

afternoon was rounded off with team games including Deal or

No Deal, and everyone had a fantastic time!

“I liked the food and drinks!!! I also liked the disco and „Deal

or No Deal,‟ but best of all was the movie!” Shianne Hodges

“I loved the food, the movie and the disco! Thank you!!!!!”

MOCK INTERVIEWS

On Friday the 24th of June students from Year 9 and 10 attended

Simulated Interview Training in Condobolin. To participate in the mock interviews students had to select a position they would like to

apply for and submit a cover letter and resume detailing how they

are suited to the position.

The interviews were conducted by business owners and people from the Human Resources Department at the Lachlan Shire who

gave the students some very valuable feedback.

Preparing for and attending the interview was part of the students‟ Work Education assessment task. Upon

completion of the interviews students were given a

voucher to use at the bakery. Many thanks to Mrs

Jackson for her help transporting the students and Tim Lukins of Condobolin High for organising the

day.

ENGINEERS OF THE FUTURE! Primary and infants students returned to school last

week and quickly got to work in their spare time

creating sand castles at the northern end of the playground. With many students cooperating, these

structures became quite impressive!
