Fresher’s Week (the first week of the academic year) was a fantastic opportunity to get used to university life and meet new friends, with special activities organised across the campus. I had never been a great chef, therefore I picked catered accommodation, having someone to cook for me has been fabulous and I never go hungry. The dining halls are very sociable and are a great chance to make friends who study other subjects, the chef even put on special themed meals for certain occasions. My flat feels like a second home to me. I’ve enjoyed having my own space and I’ve become much more independent as a result of this. STUDENT IDENTITY CARD EXP: 08/22 ID Number: 06100591 “ ”

Academic Study: During my studies I’ve have the time and resources to create a deeper understanding of Psychology. Not only have I learnt about the various different areas, but I’ve started to specialise and produce research in a particular aspect of Psychology.

“ ” Choosing: For me, choosing a university was challenging, balancing many different factors such as the course, distance from home, entry requirements and opportunities, which all had an impact on my final decision. However, my final decision was made when researching into the course itself, which appealed directly to my subject interest.

Fitting In: Moving away from home was daunting, but I quickly found my feet. Joining an array of sporting clubs made starting friendships much easier as there was already a group of students with the same interests as myself. I soon found myself travelling across the country to compete in swimming completions, with my new best friends.

Opportunities: I’ve gained so much more than academic knowledge at university. Being part of two sports teams has equipped me with additional skills, such as teamwork and time management. The abundance of opportunities available and skills to gain seem endless and will hopefully bode well for the start of a successful career.

“ ” Research: Being at the forefront of research is a vital aspect to most universities. Recently I’ve started helping my Lecturer with his ground-breaking Psychology research. Working within research is very inspiring as we never know what we might discover.
