FORESTRY FIELD ASSISTANTUAF Forest Growth and Yield Program
JOB DURATION May 12 through August 28 2010MAJOR DUTIES
Work with a forestry crew remeasuring fixed size plots.Locate plots on ground and on maps (orienteering).Perform basic forest measurements such as tree diameter, height.Measure seedling/sapling growth and vigor.
WORK SCHEDULE40 hours per week at various locations in interior and south-central Alaska. Work 8 days on and 6 days off University pays for living expenses while traveling away from FairbanksMost work away from Fairbanks, tent camping.
QUALIFICATIONSAt least 1 year of post-secondary education in forestry, NRM, biology or related fieldPreferred college course in resource measurements and plant identificationAdquate forestry fieldwork experience requiredSufficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel® and Access® preferred
SALARY $11.79 per hour
