Guidelines to follow at St. John Neumann Parish

Congregants should plan on restricted seating, a change in the

reception of Communion in order to ensure social distancing, and

other appropriate measures upon entering and exiting churches.

The dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday

Mass remains in place. All who are especially vulnerable

or simply uncomfortable attending a public Liturgy are

encouraged to remain at home and if possible, view Mass

via live streams, which will continue in local parishes.

If you are SICK, stay home and limit your contact with

others. Please be concerned about others.

*Never Forget Sanitizer and Mask when you come to Church*

Parishioners should bring and be prepared to wear their own masks

and, a bottle of hand sanitizer for use upon entering, before receiv-

ing Communion, after receiving Communion, and after exiting the

    church.

********************************************* We are in need of ushers at mass to take up collection. Men and women can do this job. If the regulars are not

present, please volunteer! ********************************************** A Polish Christmas Special will be broadcast on WEBR

Radio on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. and Midnight, and on Christmas Day at 11 a.m. More Polish Christmas Carols

(Kolędy) will be played during the regular Polish American Radio Program on Saturday, Dec. 26, at 11

a.m. and Sunday, Dec. 27, at 5 p.m. The best signal for the station is online at WebrRadio.com The Polish

American Radio Program provides music from Poland introduced in English. For any questions, please call

    Andy Golebiowski at 716-510-7562.

    Today’s Readings:

    2 Samuel 7: 1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16 Romans 16: 25-27

    Luke 1: 26-38

As we begin our last week of preparation for the coming of the Lord, we listen to the preparations three others took during earlier eras. King David intended to prepare a house for the ark of God, but God

revealed a more important house to prepare. Saint Paul completed his letter to the Romans, a church he’d helped prepare for the mystery of Christ. In the Gospel, Mary agreed to prepare a place in her womb for the Son of God. Let us prepare a place in our hearts now for the word

    of God.

    Next week’s readings: Genesis 15: 1-6, 21: 1-3

    Hebrews 11: 8, 11-12, 17-19 Luke 2: 22-40, or 2: 22, 39-40

“Retirement Fund for Religious” Thanks for giving! “We are conscious of the great generosity

of the many benefactors who support the Retirement Fund

for Religious each year,” says a Catholic sister. “Support from

the fund has been a tremendous blessing to our retired

sisters.” Thank you for donating to last week’s special

    collection.

    **************************************************

Wishing you a very Blessed Christmas!

This may be a very different year, but remember it all started with the birth of

    Jesus.

My prayers to you during this season!

    Fr. Johnson

    ADVENT IV

The end of Advent has us in a state of eager expectation. Christmas is only a few days away. There is not much time left to prepare for the wonder about to take place. The Fourth week of Advent is not a week at all, just a few days, a few days for us to reflect one last time on the events leading to the celebration of the Nativity of the Lord. The Eternal Word of God is about to become one with us and one of us.

We see the fulfillment of God's unfolding plan of redemption in the events leading up to the Incarnation, the birth of the Messiah, King. The new era of salvation begins with the miraculous conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary. This child to be born is conceived by the gracious action of the Holy Spirit upon Mary, who finds favor with God.

St. Augustine thought that Mary conceived through her ear. This powerful image emphasizes the WORD that came through the ear, enters her heart and grows in her womb.

If we accept God into our hearts, God becomes incorporated within us, we then become more than someone with a personal life and a social life. We have a third dimension and share in the divine life. Theology has a name for this spiritual phenomenon “sanctifying grace.” We are also thereby equipped for a life of eternity -- a reality that begins now, not later.

Today is a suitable occasion to look right into our hearts, to see how we stand with God. During the week we shall be keeping the feast of Christmas. The Baby in the manger will remind us of what God has done and is still doing for us. What are we doing in return? Have we shown our gratitude by living as true followers of Christ? If most of us must answer: "NO," this is the time to change our course and return to the right road once more. God is asking this of us today. Shall our answer be: "behold here I am Lord, your humble and grateful servant, let it be done to me according to your word"?
