ClIMate

Australian seasons are the complete re-verse to those in the northern hemi-sphere. Sydney enjoys a temperate cli-mate with a mild winter, and has more than 340 sunny days a year and unlike other parts of Australia, Sydney never

gets too hot or too cold.During summer it is also comfort-able with an average temperature of 24 degrees Celsius. In winter the temperature is often in the high teens and sometimes very low 20's. Don't expect to have to wear much more than a shirt or light jacket.

Culture and lIfeStyle

Australia is famous for its relaxed, friendly and vibrant culture. Australia is also proud to be one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world and is one of the safest and most harmonious places to live. It is a country where it is very easy to make

new friends, pursue a promising career and before you know it you feel like a local. The city of Sydney is no exception. Sydney is the largest Australian city. Situated on one of the world's most breathtaking natural har-bours, more than 4 million people from over 180 countries, speaking 140 languages, call Sydney home. The city enjoys being the financial centre of Australia and is ranked among the 10 most livable cities in the world. Sydney is also the coun-try’s most visited city, with attrac-tions like the Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach, is it any wonder?

Homestay – Our application form will ask whether you require us to arrange home stay accommodation. If you choose this service we will send a homestay and accommodation form to be completed and returned with the accommodation placement fee. Staff will then notify you or your agent and send details once your accommodation has been booked. The College will need to be notified if homestay arrangements are to change.

Guardianship – The College will arrange a guardian if requested upon application. A guardian is the legal representative of a student’s parents, who is required to act in the student’s interests and act on behalf of the student’s parents when necessary. For all students under the age of 18 who are not living with immediate family this is a requirement. The college will need to be notified if guardianship arrangements are to change.

One of the most significant strengths of our College is a well connected and enthusiastic student body that interacts outside the classroom on a social level. Teachers, with the input of students organise excursions, day trips, BBQ’s as well as end of year functions. The staff at the College know that these activities help students use their new language and professional skills in the real world as well as giving them a chance to see the beautiful places Sydney has to offer.

OVerSeaS Student HealtH COVer (OSHC)

All overseas students coming to Australia to study are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). It must cover the total duration of your student visa. OSHC provides security to students covering most medical expenses, hospital care, emergency ambulance transport and most prescription medication. For your convenience Strathfield college can arrange OSHC on your behalf.

HOW MuCH WIll OSHC COSt?

OSHC costs depend on how long you will be in Australia. Premiums vary depending on the health fund but arranging it through our preferred provider Bupa, will cost you $360 a year for singles and $720 a year for families. Please note these prices are subject to change by the provider.
