Definition, Focus & IntentStrategy Markup Language (StratML) ~ an
XML vocabulary and schema for strategic plans
Initial Focus ~ the strategic plans that U.S. federal agencies are required to compile and maintain under the Government Performance & Results Act (GPRA)
Intent ~ establish an international voluntary consensus standard (AIIM/ANSI/ISO) for potential use by all organizations worldwide
Prospective PurposesSharing, referencing,
indexing, discovery, linking, reuse, and analyses of the elements of strategic plans
Strategic alignment via literal linkages
Discovery of potential performance partners
Stakeholder feedback
Overcome the tendency of plans to become outdated "shelfware"
Reduce inconsistencies, and delays associated with "stovepipe" systems
Compliance with eGov Act stakeholder linkage requirement
Status & Near-Term PlansPart 1, StratML Core
March 23 – StratML Committee ballot closed/approved
Issue ballot to AIIM Standards Board & National Standards Council
2nd Q 2009 – Publish StandardPart 2, Performance Plans & Reports
