OBJECTIVETo discuss the strategic objectives for Kenyas strategic plan for HIS 2009 -2014.

IntroductionSince 2003 studies done to assess HIS in Kenya.Studies highlighted important areas that needed urgent attention to strengthen HIS.The plan is the 1st to be developed for HIS in Kenya.Intended to respond to aspiration of National Health Sector Strategic Plan II (NHSSPII), Health sector M & E framework and Vision 2030.Estimated cost -Kshs 1.9 billion (US $ 25.3 Million).

The strategic goal of the HIS plan (2009 2014) is to Establish a functional, robust, effective and efficient Health Information System.
