VALVOLE TERMOSTATIZZABILI • DIRITTE E A SQUADRA

A variety of methods is available for connecting radiators into a distribution network, but the most commonly used are thefollowing: lateral, opposite and bottom connection.

OPPOSITE CONNECTIONThis method ensures maximum efficiency as hotwater has to pass through the whole heating body ofthe radiator. From an installation point of view, however, the situation is more complicated becauseit is necessary to be aware of the centre line betweenvalve and lockshield valve, and the length of theradiator.

BOTTOM CONNECTIONThis is the least used and is achieved by making bothconnections at the bottom. Heat release is reducedfrom 5% to 10% , as water flow has a direct pathtowards exiting from the radiator.

LATERAL CONNECTIONLateral is the most common type of connection: itpermits good radiator efficiency and easy installationas the only thing necessary bear in mind is the centreline between valve and lockshield valve.

2. CONSTRUCTION FEATURES

Terminals have conical thread andare provided with Loctite® Dri-Seal5061 which guarantees seal onstandard thread.

Seal between terminal and body isachieved by means of a seat in HPF,which guarantees reliability anddurability.

Installation of thermostatic and thermo-electric heads can be carried outremoving the handle and the plastic component.

Unscrew the handle (1), insert the green extractor on the stainless steel pin (2)and rescrew the handle (3). In this way it is possible to remove the handle andthe plastic component without damaging them in order to install the desiredhead.

CONICAL THREAD WITH SEALING ADHESIVE

SEAT IN HPF

It is possible to replace sealing O-ringwithin the body of the valve withoutdraining down the system.

The nominal diameter is indicated on eachvalve body, while water flow direction isshown inside the valve.

It has a regulation scale numberedfrom 1 to 5 to permit selection of the desired temperature.Once the handle and the plastic component have been removed, it is possible to install the

In the following illustrations you can see how the radiator - installedon the free wall (Fig. A) - permits installation of art. 1824, as thesensor is in contact with circulating air, without any special materials, which might influence the recorded temperature. On the other hand if the radiator is installed in a recess (Fig. B)or in presence of furniture, which could interfere with the exactmeasurement of temperature near the heat emitter, FAR suggestsapplication of art. 1800 or art. 1810.

FAR manual valves and lockshield valves are available withiron connection and with interchangeable connections forcopper, plastic and multilayer pipe.

In order to limit working range it is notnecessary to disassemble the temperatureselector, simply activate the two externalclips. It is possible to lock the selector on adesired value using the appropriate key.

When installing thermostatic heads for usein systems serving public areas, anti-tamperprotection (art. 1832) is available.

To guarantee correct temperature sensing and regulation - even in situations where heat emitters are affected by otherconstraints within the room - FAR offers two other systems for detecting room temperature:

Main features- Thermostatic head with liquid sensor- Remote selector numbered from 1 to 5- Length of capillary: 2m- Temperature range: 0° ÷ 28° C(Values for temperature are standard on all thermostaticmodels - see listing in the table for art. 1824).

Thermostatic head with sensor and graduated scale for selection of remotetemperature value. The sensor, which features a graduated temperature scale, is placed on the wall in the vici-nity of the heat emitter but remote from it by up to 2m. It should be located in an openarea with no barriers to free movement of room air. This product is suitable for use with heat emitters located in recesses, or concealed withindecorative cabinets, or behind curtains of thick material where free circulation of room airis inhibited.

Thermostatic head and remote sensorThe sensor is placed at a maximum distance of 2m, usually on the skirting boardunder the heat emitter, in such a way as to be in the airflow drawn by the radiatoror convector itself, which will average the temperature of room air as a whole.

4.3 THERMO-ELECTRIC HEADS

Once the handle and the plastic componenthave been removed, it is possible to install thethermo-electric head as follows:1) screw the adapter (art. 1941) on the valve2) assemble thermo-electric head

FAR thermo-electric heads are available in two versions: with auxiliarymicro-switch (fig. B) or without (fig. A). These heads are activatedor deactivated by a thermostat or a control unit. They are availablenormally open or normally closed with 24V or 230V voltage.
