WELCOME! From the Co-Founder & Executive Director, Pat Burns #ReadyReadGo
For the past 16 years, the Orange County Children’s Book Festival, in association with Orange Coast College, has brought together tens of thousands of book loving families from all over Southern California. At the start of this year, we
were on track to do the same but then came the disturbing news regarding the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus. Could we still plan a large community Festival in the fall? Nobody knew. So, the responsible decision was to move from an in-person festival to a virtual book festival.
This year’s Virtual Orange County Children’s Book Festival committee worked very hard to put together an entertaining and inspiring virtual event featuring celebrity headliners, popular authors and studio illustrators. Plus, we added a few extra surprises. This could be the Festival’s best year ever!
Here are some of the festival events that are not to be missed! First to launch is the “Story & Activity Time” featuring 50 authors and illustrators sharing their work in a dazzling and engaging manner. Daily releasing five new videos, “Story & Activity Time” begins on Monday, September 14, 2020 and wraps up on Friday, September 25, 2020.
Special Current Issues Panels: During Story & Activates Time there is another special event happening we are all very proud of. With a phenomenal list of bestselling authors and iconic individuals, we are hosting two panel discussions about today's current global concerns. Be the Change! Stories to Inspire Social Justice & Awareness is one panel and will be discussing racial equality. The second panel, Good Greif! Helping Kids Cope with Sadness & Loss During the COVID Crisis will address some of the loss and sadness children experience due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Closing Event:Saturday, September 26th, the Virtual Orange County Children’s Book Festival presents “Red Carpet Time.” This special “Red Carpet Time” will host celebrity Kristen Bell and New York Times bestselling authors like Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Sarah Mlynowski and Adam Grant plus several other notable bestselling authors who will be sharing their stories. We’ll also have two celebrity chefs demonstrating recipes for kids to cook and studio artists showing kids how to draw their famous characters, too.
Mark your calendars and be sure to gather your family for the best Virtual Orange County Children’s Book Festival!

Their generosity allows the Orange County Children’s Book Festival to continue our mission of inspiring literacy and the love of books.
A heartfelt thanks to Studio DMAD team and students for their hard work in rebuilding the KidsBookFestival.com website and video editing. The success of this year’s new VIRTUAL FESTIVAL is largely because of your efforts. Thank you!

Respectfully, we wish to thank Congresswoman Katie Porter, CA 45th District Representative, and her staff, for taking time from her campaign to participate in the “Be the Change!” panel.
This virtual festival magically happens because of the dedicated, hardworking, all-volunteer
organizing committee. THANK YOU! Tom Brown, Pat Burns, Tina Crawford, Franci Coleman, Susan Delaney, Tyler Holcolm, Rene Kinn, Aggie Kobrin
and Mike Kobrin, Ronda Latham, Sharon McCubbin, Peter Montoya, Katie Olivier, Sharon Perlmuter,
