drive set aside for a

of a failure, all
drives must write
parity data to the
spare which creates
a bottleneck with
the rebuild.

➢ Une fonction du logiciel embarqué dans les baies de disques
➢ Aussi appelé ‘SnapShot’ ou ‘Copie instantanée’ des disques
➢ La copie exacte et intégrale des disques à l’instant ‘T’ se fait en UNE SECONDE !
Et ce avec 200 Go comme avec 40 To ! … (indexation évoluée interne à la baie de disque…)
➢ La copie (FlashCopy ou SnapShot) peut être réalisée selon deux modes : ➢ copie complète du contenu des disques (accès immédiat des disques, mais copie réellement terminée après N heures)
➢ copie « Space efficient » ou « Copy-NoCopy » (seules les valeurs modifiées sont copiées sur les disques clonés)

En résumé, pourquoi le stockage externe sur Power i ?
Très hautes performances
En stockage interne, chaque contrôleur de stockage est dédié à une partition. Donc chaque
I/O est limité par le nombre d'axes qui se trouve sur ce contrôleur, et la performance est
bien sûr liée au nombre d'axes.
Economies :
Si votre nombre de partitions est supérieur au nombre de contrôleurs internes, vous devrez
commander des contrôleurs supplémentaires.
Avec un stockage externe virtualisé, tout est mutualisé : les IOs tirent partie de tous les
axes du volume de stockage attribué, sur lesquels sont stockées les données de plusieurs
partitions
